Colin Moran's progression

It's too early to panic, but he's off to a slow start. Same concerns we had are there. No power and he needs to walk a lot to have good value.

I still like him though.

Eh Moran's fine. He's not Kris Bryant, but he's heating up a bit lately. Sad that the power isn't there, but he's still part of the future plans. Just might take longer than expected.

McGehee allows extra patience with Moran who will be up in September

Not sure why you think this at all. At this rate, I'll be surprised if he sees AA this year.

He won't be up in September, he needs more time and development. Even if he excels in Jupiter for the next few months, he'll be more likely to see AA next season and MAYBE be up after the Super 2 deadline in 2015.

I think he meant 2015.

ya he won't be either a top 10 or 25 prospect next year.  Was his talent misjudged by us?  Yes.  But he's not that good.

yes he is. Did you not see his age 19 season? The #s are pretty close to Jose's age 19 season and Marte was at higher professional levels. Marte has stud potential.

Not for nothing but Moran put up a solid season with the Stros. I sure hope it doesn't bite us in the butt.

Vertigo isn't a walk in the park so let's see what Cosart does this season before declaring this a crap trade.

Martes' Age 19 season:

8-3

2.04 ERA

101.2 IP

1.092 WHIP

8.7 K/9

3.50 K/BB

Jose's Age 19 season:

14-1

1.75 ERA

134 IP

0.925 WHIP

10.6 K/9

4.51 K/BB

Sorry, man, I wouldn't say "close". Martes had all of three games above Jose's highest level for his age 19 season. I'd say compare their age 20 seasons after the year is up, but that'd be unfair to Martes, considering Jose's age 20 season was a Rookie of the Year campaign in the Major Leagues.

Martes is good, though, by the numbers.

Yeah but jose is the best pitcher ever! Not even comparable @Michael. Come on man ;)

Martes is good not only by the numbers, but by his pitches. It's just bizarre to me the marlins traded a big arm like his for fricken cosart.

you all are a bunch of MORANS. Give me a HAND. My job here is DUNN. RAMOS sucks. Suck on DEE nuts.

Who is Colin Moran? He's not in the Name a Marlins Player thread. I've never heard of him. Why are we talking about him?

oh but you will hear of him when we becomes the greatest 3b of all time as his progression indicates.

Better than Matt Dominguez? Nah.

his arm wasn't as big when he was traded as it is now.  His fastball was like 85 mph when we signed him.
