July 5, 201412 yr Man...I just don't know how Heaney bombed in his first major league stint so bad. He's not any less of a prospect, but he felt like a player who was ready to be here for the long haul. Just incredibly disappointing, especially since I didn't think he had much more to learn down in the minors.
July 5, 201412 yr This fucking team. I understand Heaney didn't do well and I'm fine with his demotion, but we seriously do not need Solano on this team. Marisnick, at least, plays a smart defense. Guh ... whatever.
July 5, 201412 yr Author You guys excited for a middle infield of Hech and Solano? or Uggla soon if you believe the rumblings.
July 5, 201412 yr or Uggla soon if you believe the rumblings. Only if they pick up 99.9% of his contract and we part with a bag of batting practice balls for him! Heaney needs to go down for that minor league seasoning, he appears to be plagued by the big inning, get that fixed and get him back up in September
July 5, 201412 yr or Uggla soon if you believe the rumblings. First I've heard of this. Where is this coming from?
July 6, 201412 yr Only if they pick up 99.9% of his contract and we part with a bag of batting practice balls for him! Heaney needs to go down for that minor league seasoning, he appears to be plagued by the big inning, get that fixed and get him back up in September Batting practice balls are too much- send them Solano.
July 6, 201412 yr Kind of upsetting to see them give up on Heaney so quickly… Hope this doesn't destroy his confidence
July 6, 201412 yr I'm not disappionted on him. Just need some adjusting time. 'Cause he didn't forget the taste of major league mound, he will comeback sooner or later, I think.
July 6, 201412 yr Kind of upsetting to see them give up on Heaney so quickly… Hope this doesn't destroy his confidence Well, think about this. What would hurt his confidence more: 1) Continuing to struggle in the Major Leagues 2) Being demoted and having a renewed chance at success in AAA I'm going to say the first one. If he continues to struggle in the Majors, doubt sets in, and grows and grows and grows, and in his mind he just says, "I can't do this." Goes down to AAA, is successful, comes back up, "I can't do this, you saw what happened last time."
July 6, 201412 yr Author Well Heany appears to be more of a finesse pitcher who has to get by on impeccable location.
July 6, 201412 yr Author Not every pitcher comes up from the minors and is an immediate success like Jose. I'm not concerned.
July 6, 201412 yr Author Wasn't directing at you, I was saying it in general since I saw some comments in the game thread earlier mostly
July 6, 201412 yr Author I am not going to lie, today was the first time I had actually got to see him live. Was kind of surprised he had such a slow delivery to the plate.
July 6, 201412 yr Author There is no denying that he is a bit underwhelming for a top prospect. He made 4 big league starts. Halladay looked a bit underwhelming in 2000, he turned out fine.
July 6, 201412 yr He made 4 big league starts. Halladay looked a bit underwhelming in 2000, he turned out fine. Not judging him yet but his stuff and delivery cannot be denied that it's not intimidating.
July 6, 201412 yr Tom Glavine's stuff and delivery wasn't intimidating. He had a nice little career. Not saying he won't. Actually was thinking of Glavine before.
July 6, 201412 yr Heaney doesn't have that shoulder to ankles breaking ball that all nonpower lefties starters need to succeed at the ML level. Little nothing slider and a mediocre fastball. He might find a niche but he will never be a solid starter and not a number two.
July 6, 201412 yr Author You should've been a pro scout. You're able to determine how a 23-year old will do in his ML career after just seeing him four times. MLB teams sure missed the boat on you.
