Devaris Gordon: Love the Dee?

Featured Replies

Why does Dee look so shocked?

Because he is the size of one of his new teammate's Dees

Ichiro's? You know what they say about Asians..

I really hope Dee gets on base often and makes everyone here feel super dumb.

If he surprises and has a great season, nobody is going to feel dumb. Most statistical evidence predicts he will not be very good, so a reasonable person would presume he won't be very good.

It's so simple to understand.

I hope he does well. I really, really hope he can at least hold on to that leadoff spot they are so hell bent on forcing on him. And if he does, it will be an unlikely surprise, not something the Marlins or fans knew that would make reasonable people feel dumb.

I understand why people feel that way and I would hope some understand why others like me could be much more optimistic. There are signs that point to both being possibilities.

I'm not just a random Dee Gordon supporter, I was advocating for his acquisition months before we actually got him. I'm firm in my belief that he is going to be just fine at the top of our lineup. Really, he has to be, because if he fails it's going to make things much harder for this team.

Why is that your goal? No wonder people on here call you wild turd.....

He's got great speed, and working with Brett Butler will be really good for him.

I'm not expecting Dee to be as good as last year's first half, which realistically was just a very hot April, but if you look at his month to month splits - he wasn't bad. Hit .300 or better in four of them. The other two, under .260. I think the main concern was his stolen base drop-off in the second half more than anything, which could happen again in Miami, but who knows?

Seriously, he might be pretty damn good for us. Not great, but, good. And I'll take that over Solano starting three out of every four games.

Key words there.

Let's hope.

Gordon had a good season last year with fairly poor peripherals. Unfortunately it seems as if the Marlins didn't recognize that when they believed Heaney was a fair price. Gonna be a rough year for Dee, I think.
