May 8, 201511 yr Brignac's more than likely gone. In the short-term (at least), Yelich is going to be an offensive downgrade from Ichiro. Ichiro's doing an incredible job, has an 8-game hitting streak, and we're going to bench him. Doesn't seem right. I understand the sentiment, but Yelich is simply the better player regardless of how he started the season. Yelich needs daily at bats to get himself back on track. We got a small glimpse of what Ichiro can provide us moving forward in case of injury. I'm personally very excited to see Yelich back in the lineup given what he's capable of. Yelich hitting like he did last year batting 2nd behind Gordon or even in the 5th or 6th spot is a huge boost to this lineup. It feels like everybody is finding their groove now which is awesome.
May 8, 201511 yr More interesting question is where will he be in the lineup tomorrow? Not sure if you want to move Prado right now. Perhaps 5th? Even 6th after Morse? Imagine a 6 7 8 of Yelich JT and Hech
May 8, 201511 yr I want to see Yelich batting fourth. Gordon and Prado are setting the table well and I with the way Stanton gets on base you want someone who can drive in runs but also frustrate pitchers with patience and Yelich does that. Behind him you have the more all or nothing power guys in Ozuna and Morse. We need Yelich to start driving in more runs and having the two table setters, Stanton, and then a guy like Yelich could really do some damage.
May 8, 201511 yr As Ozuna is starting to heat up and show some pop? I'd rather not. Cannot take Prado out of the 2 spot. That is where he belongs. Its time to move Yelich into the middle of the lineup.
May 8, 201511 yr If I had my way, I'd do: 2B Dee 3B Prado LF Yelich RF Stanton CF Ozuna 1B Morse C JT SS Hech Pitcher Patcher But since they're not gonna move Stanton out of the three hole, batting Yelich fourth ... could be interesting.
May 8, 201511 yr Yelich will bat fifth after Ozuna and before Morse... Donovan Solano would have been the most likely candidate to go down only because Brignac is out of options but since Brignac has been completely useless(does he even have a hit?) they won't care to lose him so he'll be DFA'd.
May 8, 201511 yr It'll be nice to be able to actually have a pinch hitter who can actually hit again with Ichiro on the bench (+ give Stanton et al days off). How Brignac & D. Solano are still on this roster is beyond me. Props to Ichiro for holding done the fort well enough (700+ ops during that stretch) with Yelich out.. That was huge.

Now Red can stop hitting Baker against Righties like a Goofus! Baker/Ichiro as platoon PH can be deadly for this team, and would work well even when they get the starts. I'm still adamant that Solano should never get the starts when Dee is sitting, and his off days should instead be found against lefties. Then you put in Baker who rakes them
May 8, 201511 yr Not exactly surprising but guesses on who goes? I would say either D. Solano or Bour due to options. Brignac would have to clear waivers....
