Marlins hire Mattingly

Featured Replies

Mattingly will have 3 years of paid vacation after the 2016 season

Something like this.

Playoffs are a crap shoot, getting there is the hard part.

Having more than 3 pitchers you trust would maybe helped Mattingly also.

Glad to see the Dodgers addressed the biggest issue from 2014 in 2015.  Maybe they will address it for 2016 and Gabe Kapler when they name him manager.

Honest question what does stanton being happy have to do with anything? If i want someone to remain happy, thats dee gordon. He is the barometer of this team. If he is unhappy, then why the hell should i be? I dont get the stanton love. He barely even played this year and 50% of the time he did play he was slumping. The marlins played better WITHOUT stanton when he got hurt and i attribute that to gordon, at least from when he return from the DL stint, in which he did not miss 3.5 months. Again, not stantons fault he was hurt, but the hell do i care about what makes him happy. He signed the contract, so he should live with it regardless of what happens.

You better watch out.  You say something negative about Stanton and you will face so many negative downvotes for your post.

The entire remainder of your post will be ignored save for the negative stuff about Stanton.

;)

He was leading the majors in HRs and RBIs when he went down. The. Majors.

Let's see, who else was not doing that: Trout, Harper, Cabrera, Goldschmidt, Donaldson, Cruz, Rizzo, Davis, etc. etc...

I don't know, that's at least something.....  :rolleyes

It's not the fact he says anything negative about Stanton. It's the fact he says the same ridiculous things again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again ...

Culture of attention-seeking.

Just a guess, but him being one of the best players in MLB might just have something to do with it.

It's actually scary when you say things like "He barely even played this year and 50% of the time he did play he was slumping" when he was leading MLB in home runs and RBIs when he went down. That's just willful ignorance or intense stupidity.

And you forget the positive things i say about him too.

Good point. Maybe i just cant that abysmal april out of my head. But i still stand with making gordon happy instead of everybody else, including jose. Gordon is my team MVP.

It's a real shame then the MLB season is six months long.

Granted, the Marlins' season usually ends by May, so I may have to give you that one.

Haha. There is so much drama here its ridiculous. I can tell you now. Im sure he is happy mattingly is onboard but i dont know why any of you should care. Baseball is a business. And trust me i hate to say that it is.

Bollocks. You've been ragging on at Stanton before this season.

You were really surprised that a guy who took a 90mph baseball to the face to end 2014 did not come back MVP calibre-ready? Most of us weren't.

Hey he said he was ready. And i remember when alvarez hit him too.

Hey he said he was ready, not MVP ready.

Remember when all the pitchers at the start of 2015 pitched high and inside to him? Did you work out why they did that?

Instinct and learned behaviour is a powerful thing.

Point for you. Cant hate on your comment

Stanton was having a monster season before he got hurt. Shows you how big of a season it was considering it took almost 2 months for Harper to catch up to him. He got hurt and the team didn't want to risk him not coming back at 100% in an already lost season.

We have sucked ass for the longest but we as fans still stick around. $325 million or not, I think Stanton is worth every penny and I wouldn't want to lose him as a player. Hopefully this Mattingly hiring sets off a string of much needed moves.
