October 29, 201510 yr I wonder if Donnie baseball gets to choose his own staff ? He does, complete control
October 29, 201510 yr Don has invited his entire staff to join him but not all will. Most likely to come is Lopes. Source: Me
October 29, 201510 yr New policy: Admin gets a +1 reputation every time he gives us some insider knowledge. Incentivize him, people
October 29, 201510 yr Bring the pitching Coach!! Honeycutt was invited and would be a huge get but he's undecided so far.
October 29, 201510 yr Is Mark McGwire coming? That'd be wild I would like to think so, but him leaving SoCal with his deep roots there....I wouldn't be surprised for him to be one of the ones that passes on the job
October 29, 201510 yr Is Mark McGwire coming? That'd be wild Marlins payroll can't afford steroids. ...Too soon.
October 29, 201510 yr Really ? Interesting as most of the things I've heard was Jennings using subtle manoeuvering and back-stabbing aimed at getting him canned. This can't be true. This is the problem with some radio and media people these days. So many of them pass off their opinions and irrelevant hunches as the truth.
October 29, 201510 yr Honeycutt is "intrigued" by our arms and is considering taking the gig but its considered 50/50 at this time
October 29, 201510 yr I would like to think so, but him leaving SoCal with his deep roots there....I wouldn't be surprised for him to be one of the ones that passes on the job Exactly! I think he just wants to be close to home. If anything he should look at going back to the Athletics lol. Honeycutt would be sick! If Wallach doesnt land a job, that is another one to pick up as the Bench coach.
October 29, 201510 yr Finally moves that really feel like they can make a difference. Yeah those 4 or 5 games a manager can win for you definitely will get us in the race ! Championship (snark) !!!!
October 29, 201510 yr At least it APPEARS Loria is trying, now the hard part, getting free agents to buy in without having to pay TOO much, and getting Loria to open his wallet (the one with the bullet proof lining)
October 29, 201510 yr I have no idea if Mattingly is a good manager. Lots of people liked what he brought in LA and lots of people hated his in game decision making. Overall, its most likely a meaningless hire. The more important hire should have been revamping the entire front office, scouting, and player development system. But alas, DID YOU SEE US IN SEPTEMBER WE WERE INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! Forget that we were 30 games under before september, the rest of the season is just an outlier, we are a great team. This team continues to hold itself back. The manager isn't a problem. We do this every two years. "We need someone with fire! No, we need a players coach now" Its absurd. Our scouting is awful, our front office decision making is awful, and we have no depth in the organization player wise. The fact that Loria thinks every single time we change managers that it is gonna be some groundbreaking culture change is pathetic. It boggles my mind that he had enough business sense to become a huge multimillionaire but can't seem to figure this out. Once again this is a nothing move that will be reversed when Mattingly is fired because he inevitably doesnt succeed to Loria's ridiculous standards solely because of Loria's complete ignorance for the real problem in this organization. 8 managers since 2003. 8 fucking managers. Yet we still change managers all the time as if its a manager issue and not the fact that we have some of the worst scouting, player development, and front office in all of baseball. This organization is mind boggling. Again, I like Mattingly, I don't mind the hire. But this organization is rinse repeat rinse repeat and it is incredible that it hasn't figured out what the real problem is. The fact that we are letting a decent september for a team that was at one point close to 30 games under .500 cloud our decision making all around the organization has to be one of the most symbolic "Marlins things" we have done in the last 13 years since the world series. Pathetic. Stupid. Marlins.
October 29, 201510 yr I would like to think so, but him leaving SoCal with his deep roots there....I wouldn't be surprised for him to be one of the ones that passes on the job Unless something drastic has happened in the last couple of years there is a 0% chance he is leaving Southern California.
October 29, 201510 yr Unless something drastic has happened in the last couple of years there is a 0% chance he is leaving South Florida. He isn't in South Florida
