Admin
Considering Tom Koehler is the new front office shill I wouldn't be surprised if they just made him the opening day starter. He did have a sub-4 era last year!! I'm surprised you didn't post his tweet about Jeff Mathis. Or did you?
pollythewog
I'm surprised you didn't post his tweet about Jeff Mathis. Or did you? gotta give it to Tom, he's saying exactly what he needs to say to stay in this starting rotation because results clearly aren't of consequence to the FO
pollythewog
Also, I guarantee at some point before opening day Samson or Hill or some other FO doofus refers to Koehler as a #2 starter. Mark my words @Admin $25 to the site if I'm wrong.

Admin
5061 days since Loria bought the team and killed baseball for Miami To be fair, every owner failed to land the new park and without that there really would be NO baseball in Miami. SilverBullet
Hate Loria all you want, if it wasn't for him you wouldn't have a team to complain about right now.

SilverBullet
Oh great now I'm going to be called a Loria lover again Don't worry, everyone here knows Loria is too old for you. ...but honestly, you (and I at times) should be respected for being able to honor Loria's successes (regardless of how far apart they are) while still hating the guy when he fucks it up. Admin
No, you can't say anything nice about Loria even if its true. Its akin to praising a mass murderer here
Admin
How many days has it been since he got us the ballpark that kept baseball in Miami? 1 fewer than the number of days it's been since he got us a vomit - colored sculpture to pulse and shoot water in center field. canada-marlin24
So when are they going to get this new fucking tv deal?
97marlin
I feel like everyone here misses that there are two sides of baseball ownership. The Public side, I.E. new ballparks, community activities, relations with the surrounding area. The second is winning on the field. Loria is really actually not bad at the first one, once you get over his clear inability to do the second. If he had decided to hire a new aged analytically minded front office guy and built a completely proprietary computing centre. Then just let it do its thing, hand off. He would actually be a really good owner. His problem is that he doesn't know anything about baseball, but he thinks he does. I call it the Jerry Jones conundrum. CYmarlins
But Jerry Jones got some serious money and Loria is crying broke all the time. I think they will really try and push for that TV deal for the 2017 but even then isn't the deal 2020? Does that carry a penalty to try to renegotiate? I think the biggest off season signing Marlins do is just extending Gordon. That is actually something to talk about since Marlins offering 5 years and he wants 7 years. Stick to 5 and give a club option for the 6th year. You can't compare Gordon to Yelich because Yelich is far superior.

You mean like that time they had a community event and no players showed up? How Samson insults the intelligence of the fan base with the press still? How there are empty tenants in the surrounding areas of the park? How they can't sell naming rights? Solid organization there. You're giving him way too much credit. Yea, he got a ballpark. Great. A real owner would have closed a deal in 2004 and broke ground at latest in 2005 following world series hype. He's going to make $750+ million in profit when he sells the team. Let's not forget about that when we're talking about them not signing a $40 million pitcher this offseason or buying out Fernandez with a real offer. Also, don't forget about Mike Hill's comments last year about the fan base being "smart enough" to understand why they did those trades. Those were some of the worst I've heard form this organization.
Admin
You know who broke the story on no players showing that to event? THIS GUY My story forced Samson to comment on it, I felt bad and good at the same time.
