January 26, 201610 yr Right. I don't think anyone of us think gallardo is ridiculously good, but the reality is he's the best pitcher still available. He's also better than the other fossils and reclamation projects. Because going with a guy like fister or Lincecum you're dealing with hoping for a bounce back and/or them to stay healthy. For us to compete as is we need way too many things to go right. Why not solidify the rotation. Fernandez Chen gallardo cosart Koehler. Still not amazing but at least serviceable and coupled with a good pen can make us a solid team.

I wish they'd have actually gotten Chen, Gallardo, AND the bounce-back reclamation guy as a way to lengthen the rotation. Amongst the three of them they could have easily covered the innings we need and allowed Koehler, Cosart, Jackson, Phelps, Conley, and Nicolino to fall into their best roles for 2016.

Will cosart Koehler and Conley all have a better year than Gallardo. Having gallardo would allow us to replace the worst of those three in the rotation.
