Alex Anthopoulos joining the Marlins front office?

Featured Replies

Omg yes! Didn't think this would happen but it did! This team has done nothing for the on field stuff but you can't deny the moves being made behind the scenes and in the dugout. Excellent!

Loria is creating an official Yes Man position where a respected baseball mind agrees with whatever he says.

The Marlins lead the league in people with an influence in team decision making.

He lost in what Perspective? His team was in a financial position to make a trade and all he got rid of was prospects. He got Jose Reyes, and Mark Buehrle who was one season removed from 200 innings pitched at a mid 3's era. The fact HA became what he did at the time doesn't take away that he made the right move to move his team forward. Hell Reyes netted them TULO.

Yeah in the end the Blue Jays did okay with that trade. If anything he totally lost the Mets trade.

“I’m getting there and come next month, come January, I’ll work again,” Anthopoulos said. “Most likely for a team but it’s not 100 per cent. There were some media opportunities that came up that were interesting just from a quality of life standpoint. I think I might enjoy that and I had some really interesting discussions with some people just to educate myself. I think it would be challenging and I think it would be fun. Also the ability to have that kind of balance and be around my five-year-old and my three-year-old and be more of a Dad. I didn’t think I would even consider (a media job) but I kind of did.

“But then the more I thought about it, it’s most likely I’ll stay in baseball. Just because I’ve done it so long and I’m still young in my baseball career. I don’t think I’m prepared to walk away.”

“I understand that I may not be a general manager again and I’m OK with that,” he said. “Now again, that’s what my perspective is today. And obviously deciding not to sign an extension, I had to be prepared for that. I just think that all of the decisions I’ve made in my life, I never chased the money. You try to do what ultimately you feel is going to satisfy you and fulfil you. As simple as it sounds — and maybe this is naive — but normally success will follow.

I think its a stretch to say the Marlins won the Blue Jay trade. They turned Reyes into Tulo, got workhorse innings out of Buehrle, and made the playoffs.  The Marlins let Alvarez go for nothing and the only thing left they have to show for it is a decent defensive shortstop that can't hit, a soft tossing lefty that can't strike people out, and a backup catcher that is average defensively and arguably the worst hitter in MLB history.

Have we bothered to check if this is real or not? Literally one person has said this.

I guarantee you Anthopolous is coming here to be with Mathis because Mathis is his "one that got away."

It can't be just a coincidence that the rumor of Anthopolous coming here started mere days after Mathis resigned here.
