Roster Projections for Opening Day

Switch the 2 and 7 guys in the lineup, and I think that's how its going to shake out too. Selling Cosart a bit low there though. He was pretty good 13-14, and was injured last year. Believe in the groundball rates and fastball velocity. They could do a lot worse.

Hill confirmed Koehler's got his spot already so he agrees with you.

I mean Koehler deserves a rotation spot from the get go. He's been one of the few consistent rotation spots the last two years. He's been able to stay healthy, provide innings and give the team chances to win. Sure he'll completely bomb every few games and he always lives on the edge with the constant fly balls but he's earned the chance to fail or succeed on his own.

And I'm with Lou that it's kinda weird that you put Realmuto 2nd. Prado's the obvious #2 candidate. I also think it'll be Nicolino who gets that 5th rotation spot, not Conley. Other than that seems about right.

I was leaning Prado too, but I think he works better down in the order than Realmuto does. They are somewhat similar hitters though, so it wouldn't change the lineup dynamic much either way. As far as Nicolino, he's pretty bad at pitching, so I don't think he wins that fifth spot. If it isn't Conley, then it's either Jackson or Phelps. Nicolino seems destined for some more AAA time, because I don't know that he'd do well out of the bullpen either.

I actually prefer Realmuto at the 2 spot but I don't think it will happen. Looking at the complete roster makes me really believe that if we had a real #2 starter we'd be a real contender. Rodon would've been cool.

Wheres mcgehee?

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd consider someone with a 3.54 ERA in 53 career starts as having a "general lack of success at the Big League level".  He had a tough year last year with the illness, but I think he's going to be a good middle of the rotation guy.

Getting that itch for baseball season to start. Get through this agonizing spring training and then off we go.

Dude they sell a cream for that.

jesus that bench.

I mean yeah DD and roidrage are okay but then there's three guys who, ugh.

Rojas is pretty cool as a 25th guy. And at least Ichiro is cute.
