Poor Wittgren

So we're going to try Garcia as our lefty out of the pen?

Isn't Garcia suppose to be a good prospect for us?

For us, sure. For any other team, nope.

Yeah he is one of our top pitching prospects but his numbers aren't that great.

Wittgren did ok but I think if he throws strikes he'll be effective which he had a little trouble doing.

The MLB app notification said Flores optioned down too but that's gotta be a mistake right considering the DL stint?

A 6-foot-2 left-hander, Garcia's clean delivery and quick arm generate easy velocity in the low-to-mid 90s. He regained feel for his curveball last season after regressing with the pitch in 2014, and he gives hitters a different look by mixing in a decent slider. Garcia's changeup emerged as his more reliable secondary offering last season as he learned to throw it with better arm speed and fading action to complement the movement on his heater.

Garcia throws strikes with all four pitches, but he still has more control than command at this stage of his career. Scouts view him as a future No. 4 starter, and they expect him to miss more bats with improved fastball command and more consistent secondary offerings.

Looks to be a little better than Nicolino as for as upside, which isn't saying much.

Will we use him as a LOOGY or just general long relief?

I don't feel bad for Wittgren in the sense that he's just that guy in the role of last guy in the pen with options and he's gonna be up and down all year. His time to stick in the big leagues will come. Yeah sucks to be sent down but it's not for anything he did wrong. He's the swing man now and isn't in a premium role now.

Maybe Garcia could be good for us. I saw him pitch in the Futures Game and he wasn't bad. Seems like his stuff could translate nicely to the pen. He's definitely better than any lefty we've already had this year.

Isn't that the truth of all of them--throwing strikes consistently??

Yes and if he does he can be successful. Some guys throw strikes and blow.

Definitely a fan of Garcia. Biggest problem was his limit seemed to be a #4 starter and he still showed he needs seasoning in the minors so the call up is somewhat premature. Either way he's got a long term type future on the team

When on Garcia has fringe big league stuff at best right now with room to improve. When not he is terrible with command and misses spots bad. He isn't ready for this at all and needs at least a year in the minors.

Watching him throw is almost painful. Arm trails the rest of his body and he doesn't use his legs much. Looks like a huge injury risk going forward.

Not bad 3-5 starter to-contact pitcher material who is good vs both sides hitters when going good but also can get real bad.

But he's also not coming up to start. Fringe starts tend to do well as relievers. Just ask David Phelps.

Nice to have a lefty capable of throwing mid-90s for a change.

"What's wrong with 84 with no movement, right down the middle?" -Opening Day roster member Christopher Gregg Narveson (I did not make up that middle name.)

Jarlin is eons better than Narveson. His slider is filth when it's on and his change is good too. Hr will usually sit like 90-92 but he can ramp it up to 95-96. Scary considering his delivery is all arm no legs
