May 26, 201610 yr Neither is anyone else in this organization who isn't a starter on the Marlins or Barraclough, Phelps, Ramos, and somewhat McGowan. Ellington has real Major League experience, though. I'm not a big Wittgren fan, but he's pitched pretty well in AAA. Ellington is averaging about a walk per inning in AAA, which is simply unacceptable. I hope he can get it together because he obviously has a nice fastball.
May 26, 201610 yr would be cool if they had just done with the padres did and turned brad hand into a 1 inning guy
May 26, 201610 yr would be cool if they had just done with the padres did and turned brad hand into a 1 inning guy You mean like we did with Phelps?
May 26, 201610 yr You mean like we did with Phelps? yeah...hand seemed very well equipped for something like that... one plus pitch and one decent enough pitch. + he actually gets lefties out
May 26, 201610 yr Author Is lumbar disc herniation the medical term for sucking dick? No, that's called a Silver Bullet
May 26, 201610 yr Neither is anyone else in this organization who isn't a starter on the Marlins or Barraclough, Phelps, Ramos, and somewhat McGowan. Ellington has real Major League experience, though. So does Breslow. Want him back?
May 26, 201610 yr Maybe the reason for the sucking. Dunn is close at least FWIW. Watched him throw the other night. He will need at least one or two more rehab outings. Has velo but a bit rusty control wise.
May 26, 201610 yr Ellington's walk numbers are atrocious. More walks than innings pitched. He needs to get back to what he was doing last year. Morris has been terrible since 2015 and has done little to help this team. Dunn is hopefully close and I would like to see Nefi Ogando back as well.
May 26, 201610 yr So you're saying he's back to normal. I guess. He just hardly loomed comfortable in the inning he threw. Gave up some big contact to A+ guys
May 26, 201610 yr would be cool if they had just done with the padres did and turned brad hand into a 1 inning guy Was more important to have Breslow for a mil plus rather than keeping Hand for the minimum and years and years of control. Gotta pigeon hole players afterall
May 26, 201610 yr Was more important to have Breslow for a mil plus rather than keeping Hand for the minimum and years and years of control. Gotta pigeon hole players afterall He's striking out a lot of players sure. But he also has the worst BB/9 of his career. (Tied with 2011 his rookie season). I'm ok he's gone.
May 26, 201610 yr And yet he still has the best K/BB in his career 3.28 ERA, 3.45 FIP And more importantly, v.s. LHB: 2.36 FIP, .143/.234/.167/.401 slash line against. He's absolutely torching lefties. The team's left hand pitchers have a .877 OPS against left handed batters. That difference is insane. He'd be a huge upgrade for the pen and it's shorted sighted to point at his walks to say otherwise. And they not only chose to have Breslow and Naverson over Hand, they paid nearly 3 million for the privileged to do so. Like, I mean, Hand is probably never going to be more than a serviceable LH arm out of the pen. But that's valuable when 1) they're cost controlled and 2) you don't have any other serviceable LH arm to come out of the pen
May 27, 201610 yr FUCKING GREAT NO MORE MORRIS !!! I read today that he's been pitching in pain all season. That's why his fastball velocity is down. Cut the guy some slack.
