July 11, 20168 yr the #Marlins have no untouchable prospects but after seeing Naylor in #FuturesGame I would hesitate trading him for a starter — Joe Frisaro (@JoeFrisaro) 2016년 7월 11일 Scoop hesitate. Me,too.
July 11, 20168 yr Wrong again Frisaro. Naylor may not be any better than what u saw yesterday. Now's the time to dangle him. If his performance yesterday is enough to trick teams to give you a starter for him, you do it.
July 11, 20168 yr This is why I brought up Steve Pearce earlier. Aside from our obvious SP need, it would be cool to upgrade at 1B from the right side. Bour's been good against RHP, but Chris Johnson...well, not so much. Also, I think we should carry 8 relievers in the 2nd half. Cole Gillespie's roster spot is so irrelevant. Good idea about Pearce, that is someone you just take on salary more than anything. The Marlins really need to adopt this way of thinking even if it is only for this year. We don't have the farm system, so take back the salary in exchange for the low level stuff we can offer them. Cole's roster spot definitely is not needed and should be filled with a pitcher. Our next day off is August 4th. Bringing in another guy that can pitch multiple innings would be a plus.
July 11, 20168 yr I love this thread. Some of u have crazy ideas but this is a good thread to have in mid july
July 11, 20168 yr What about under the radar pitchers who would cost practically nothing? I'm looking at guys like that & thinking Jorge De La Rosa might be one. Edit: Andrew Cashner is another one.
July 11, 20168 yr De La Rosa is interesting in terms of cost Yeah, he's solid his last 3 years. Also has a 2.3 ERA in his last 39 innings after a rough start this year.
July 11, 20168 yr What about under the radar pitchers who would cost practically nothing? I'm looking at guys like that & thinking Jorge De La Rosa might be one. Edit: Andrew Cashner is another one. Cashner has been even worse than Koehler this year, and by a considerable margin, too. I mean, I guess he'd be better than Nicolino, but he wouldn't move the needle much at all.
July 11, 20168 yr Cashner has been even worse than Koehler this year, and by a considerable margin, too. That's true, but he does have a better track record. Not my ideal guy, but I was just talking about guys who would cost nothing and might have some upside.
July 11, 20168 yr The logical thing would be pickup two guys before the deadline and replace TK and #5 in the rotation. Shift TK to the long relief / swing man but they will never do that. De La Rosa has definitely been pitching a lot better since they tweaked his delivery. Can't remember if he got rid of the hesitation or he added it to his delivery but ever since then he has been pitching a lot better.
July 11, 20168 yr I can see them pushing TK to the pen but it'd have to be for a clear upgrade first. The fifth spot is more pressing than the Koehler spot.
July 11, 20168 yr I love this thread. Some of u have crazy ideas but this is a good thread to have in mid july Really,it's the first time in many years that we seriously talked about who we need to add before the trade deadline.
July 11, 20168 yr Marlins have made a minor move that could mean something is in the works. Traded Tim Berry to padres for CASH, clearling space on their 40-man roster. Admin??
July 11, 20168 yr I worried that we needed to wait until the last day or so of the deadline to acquire the SP we want due to the selling team always wait for the last second to have the best return,so in this case we need to rely on the internal candidates to start the games in every five days before the deadline, but that's not a good idea.
July 11, 20168 yr Seeing as we are clearing room on the 40-man roster only tells me we will be completing a deal here soon. BTW, JOBA just got released. Might fish give him a look? I think they should.
July 11, 20168 yr I can see them pushing TK to the pen but it'd have to be for a clear upgrade first. The fifth spot is more pressing than the Koehler spot. Yeah. Honestly, I wouldn't have much of a problem with Koehler as the No. 5 starter. He's not good, but he's not that bad. It's the fact that he is one of our key starters that's the problem.
July 20, 20168 yr Guys I know you don't want this, but its looking like the Marlins may need to include Dietrich in a trade for a starter...
July 20, 20168 yr Depends on the starter. We have enough minor league pieces for Hellickson or Santana. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
