July 10, 20168 yr you can teach how to steal a base though which dee isn't especially good at considering how fast he is True. But I still don't think just because his useless this year he should be traded. I love Dietrich and I really hope we can keep him. But going into next season if it's between Dee and Derek, it's Dee all the way. I know we are still playing for this season, but it's not too smart to put all the eggs in the basket this season and forget about future.
July 10, 20168 yr He's a + platoon player, but a platoon guy nonetheless. I wouldn't be heartbroken if we gave him up for a quality starter. That would be a solid move Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app It's a good thing you're not a GM. Bour won't be traded. We have no trade pieces. Whoever we get will be from eating a large chunk of contract, and some of those nobodies we recently signed.

July 10, 20168 yr We should trade Hech. Surprised I'm always the only one who mentions this when this sort of thing comes up. Many teams would pay a good price for a defensive first SS & we just so happen to have two of them. Sell Hech who was offered a long-term deal and rejected. I'm going to be pissed if we ever give him an Elvis Andrus type deal.

I can see this being a thing after the whole fiasco with Ozzie and Fidel Castro.
July 10, 20168 yr He led in stolen bases last year.. also led in caught stealing. his ratio sucks esp when you toss in picked off

July 10, 20168 yr I can't remember, but did ATL get anything good for Simmons? I feel like Hech and Simmons are very similar players. Yes they did. They got their best pitching prospect in that deal.
July 10, 20168 yr Yes they did. They got their best pitching prospect in that deal. Newcomb is probably a reliever
July 10, 20168 yr Here's my ultimate opinion on everything. While this year has been tons of fun, it's really not our year. Would love to get to the playoffs for a taste but we aint got the team to go far. If they do any SP trade it needs to be for a guy with multiple years....2017 could be our year... Trade ozuna to cleveland or KC for a legit SP2. Sign Cespedes or Reddick or another big name FA OF. Perhaps the old veteran washed up guy they trade for this year stays good as well. Throw capps into the situation and our lineup and f the cubs. We'll win 100 games I think we have a shot this year. And if you do, you go for it.
July 10, 20168 yr Newcomb is probably a reliever My brother works for the Braves & the consensus among the organization is that Newcomb is their best pitching prospect right now. He might turn out to be a reliever, but he was the Angels best prospect at the time of the deal & is still one of the best in the Braves organization. Point is a defensive first SS can net you something good especially if you're dealing with a team that needs a SS (they're not easy to find). If we're dealing big leaguers to help ourselves get something better in a deal, Hech is the first guy I'd think about trading from the big league team. We have the luxury of having Rojas who I don't think is much worse, if he's even worse at all.
July 10, 20168 yr The only chance of us adding a very good, controllable starting pitcher is if we trade Dietrich along with a couple prospects (Ellington, Nicolino, Flores, e.g.). Trading Bour doesn't make sense for our roster, and quite frankly, most teams around the league wouldn't view him as a blue chip asset. He's very one dimensional - bad speed, bad against lefties, average defense at best. I love the guy and he's exactly what WE need, so it makes no sense to move him. If we want a half year rental, we have the pieces in the minors for that. Maybe not for Rich Hill, but for a Nolasco type. If we do make a deal for a Twins starter, I'd love K. Suzuki back in the deal to replace Mathis with. Don't think we need a utility guy with Rojas and Dee coming back. Although I too worry about our schedule and rotation, I say we go for it. Make a move even for a rental. These chances are hard to come by. As bad as our rotation is, if Chen can be decent, with our defense, pen and offense - we can win games with our #4 and 5 starters, especially if we upgrade the 5. July 10, 20168 yr We didn't deal Paddack not to go for it. The management isn't even considering not going for it. The issue they have is that in order to add a big piece they have to subtract from the MLB roster. Other teams in contention don't have that problem. July 10, 20168 yr I just want to make the playoffs at minimum. For a moment I worried about given up what little we had then I realized these next few years are our best chance to do anything since we are bare in the minors. Might as well take a shot now
July 10, 20168 yr We definitely have to go for it this year. It would be stupid to not go for it. Just have to get in. Then Shock The World III
July 10, 20168 yr Jose isn't going to be limited if the team stays in the race. Matt Harvey had an innings limit last year too...

July 10, 20168 yr Santana could be the answer. Scary because you are stuck with him for two more years and he doesn't strike out a lot of guys. But if he's decent, you are happy to have him for a couple years and don't lose a draft pick in the process. Seeing as we can't do better without moving Dietrich and more, and knowing how this team doesn't want to lose prospects for 3 months of from a player. I could see something like Naylor and Flores for Santana. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app

Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app f we paid the rest of this years salary, and took on 5 -7 mill of Santana's contract for the next 2 years, I don't see us having to give up Naylor for him. Flores, yeah, Tellis and maybe Brice. But it wouldn't take much more than that.

July 10, 20168 yr Come on. 19 year old with legit left-handed power? Naylor getting praise at Futures Game. Telis has no position. Marlins have 5 qualifying batters over .300 at the break. It's the fifth time in last 40 years that's happened, first since 1999. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
