July 29, 201610 yr Regardless of what the rankings say, I think Castillo and Paddack were the Marlins top 2 pitching prospects. Paddack is gone and now everyone wants Castillo. And, nobody talks about the good moves the Marlins have made. They got Castillo and Kendry Flores for Casey McGehee.

They also got DD for Yunel Escobar. They took Bour in the Rule V draft. I mean some people just ignore EVERY good move they make and focus on EVERY bad move. People keep bitching about the shitty farm system (and yes it is shitty) but that's partly due to the fact several young very good players are in the big leagues.

July 29, 201610 yr I think we end up with Ian Kennedy and Danny Duffy in exchange for Luis Castillo, Josh Naylor, and Justin Nicolino. Duffy has his final arb season next year and Kennedy would be a salary dump for the Royals (signed through 2020 for about $16 million per season). If we give up our top remaining pitching prospect, our top "hitting" prospect, and a "MLB experienced" lefty starter, plus take on the vast majority or all of Kennedy's salary, I think we can get something done. It's not a high-impact trade, but Duffy is underrated but very good, and Kennedy can eat up some innings. Maybe we can even convince them to send us Mike Minor and try him out in the bullpen as a lefty specialist once he's back on the mound? Does this make sense to anyone else?

Cashner stinks He's in the middle of the worst full season of his career, but he was a very good pitcher as recently as last season and has had a lot of success since becoming a full time starter. In fact, this 2016 season is the only bad season of his career since he converted from reliever to starter.

July 29, 201610 yr 2015 doesn't count? Don't look at his 6-16 record, look at all of his other numbers. With the exact same season he had in 2015, on a better team, Andrew Cashner wins 10-12 games.
