July 26, 20169 yr I feel the Marlins are the front runner for Cashner. They have been the most aggressive.

Seriously though, while it's pretty true when comparing our farm system to others, the article only quotes one executive from one other team. Does that guy speak for the other 28 teams too? ESPN making a full article based one person's quote. That doesn't mean a team wouldn't take a chance on someone in our system. Whatever, we'll see within a week.

July 26, 20169 yr Author have you seen our farm system? I said the lack of a farm system was true. I disagree with one person speaking for twenty nine team's front offices.
July 26, 20169 yr I said the lack of a farm system was true. I disagree with one person speaking for twenty nine team's front offices. one person and every prospect publication/list there is. I guarantee it's a pretty general consensus that there is nothing but garbage and braxton garrett down there
July 26, 20169 yr no surprises here for me anyway Exactly. Anyone with a brain knows that the Marlins have one of the worst farm systems in the modern era of MLB history right now. They will be lucky to get Ricky Nolasco or a Ricky Nolasco equivalent.

They will be lucky to get Ricky Nolasco or a Ricky Nolasco equivalent. We would be lucky to get Nolasco? That's a joke. We could give up almost anyone on the AAA roster for him as long as we ate cash. All of these guys are pure rentals, philly already named the price. The dispute is everyone wants Naylor, Miami isn't willing to deal him and rightfully so. Even your boys at fangraphs wrote about it
July 26, 20169 yr I think Miami would trade Naylor for the right return. they should trade naylor for any return
July 26, 20169 yr they should trade naylor for any return Well he has some value, just not as much as some think.
July 26, 20169 yr they should trade naylor for any return I was with you on the Paddack thing but I just can't grasp your dislike of Naylor. I think he just turned 19. He is a left handed power threat that makes good contact. I could only assume that you dislike him because he doesn't walk much? I can understand being skeptical as he is far from a sure thing but he is also far from a sure thing to go bust.
July 26, 20169 yr Well, he just walked the lead off guy and gave up a Donaldson rocket home run to dead center followed by an Encaranacion single off the wall. So in conclusion, he will fit right in. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app

Naylor was drafted for one tool, power, which hasnt shown up at all in 430 professional abs. If he had any hope of playing somewhere besides 1b/DH i wouldn't be so down on him, but as it stands he sucks at the only thing he's supposed to be good at. Also, the marlins were the only team in baseball that considered him a 1st rounder and no other team views him as such. Gotta remember a big part of his signing was he was underslot. When thinking about Naylor it's best to think of him as a 2nd or 3rd rder (how every other club valued him) who has sucked so far.

I know we took him higher than he should have gone but I don't think he would have lasted until the 2nd or 3rd round. Anyway, he is still very young. I'm sure the power will come. He hasn't torn up A ball but he hasn't been terrible either. I'm still optimistic that he can pan out for us.

July 27, 20169 yr Well he has some value, just not as much as some think. Not trying to start shit, but I would have traded Naylor before Paddack. Not sure why some people here think that Naylor is borderline untouchable.
July 27, 20169 yr I can sum Cashner up like this. He's Tom Koehler with a much better fastball but cannot throw his other pitches for strikes. So he gets into lots of trouble by walking guys and falling behind in the count, so hitters know the fastball is coming. That said, the fastball is electric. Overall, I'd say Hellickson is a better pitcher right now. Cashner has more upside if he can control his off speed stuff. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
