Marlins Acquire Cervenka

Featured Replies

Left-handed pitcher Hunter Cervenka acquired from Atlanta in exchange for minor leaguers INF Anfernee Seymour & LHP Michael Mader.

I assume we option Ogando to make room?

I can't believe we gave up Mader. Just recently came across him in our system while looking through scores and looked like a nice prospect

You guys make a very big deal out of every prospect traded from our piece of shit system.

my issue is cervenka will get some lefties out then don will have 100% confidence in him and let him face some righties in a close game which = game over

Yeah, well you don't make a big deal out of every prospect traded from our peice of shit system.

But seriously, look up Mader and tell me he's worth giving up for a lefty with a 6.1 BB/9. Not only that, but he will probably replace Ellington whose even better than him. The net loss is going to be comical

Lefties are 9 for 62 against him this year with 6 years of control.  Giving up a mediocre prospect for him is fine as long as they use him properly.

Cervenka is still a mediocre player. 62 at bats doesn't make him Sean Doolittle

Don used lefty specialists properly in LA. If anything, his issue with the pen is the "he's our guy" mentality where each guy has to pitch a certain inning.

As for Mader, he's just a guy. Seems like some of you expect to get better without giving up any players. Look at what other contenders have given up this season for a chance to win.

But that's not an issue with cervenka that's a Mattingly issue therefore you actually have no issue with cervenka

Didn't say he was great.  But he seems to me a legit MLB lefty reliever...which they don't have in the system...except for Dunn (maybe).
