8/2/17 POST GAME & Braves Speculation

Featured Replies

Who would have thought we would take 2 out of 3 from the Nats.  Well we did.  We'll have to see how we do in DC against them, and we'll have to see how they do against other teams in the short term to see if it was a fluke, or a Nats funk.  Either way, Stanton had an AWESOME catch!  That word is used too often, but what else fits?  Then there is Yeli  who doesn't hit many of them with a projected 402' home run.  We have Deeks giving us the 50% pizza deal.  And a lot of great turns by Rojas and Gordon.  What about that catch by Gordon coming down on 2nd base!!   And who would have thought Worley could give us that kind of performance after the last time he pitched?  There is a lot of talent there when they hit on all cylinders.  Obviously with more depth, the players being what they should be and not how they are (Chen, the pen at times, etc.), without key injuries (Bour, Prado, etc.), with some more luck,  this team  may have been an over 500 team.  A lot of ifs I know. Yet we do have a chance (however remote) to reach 500.  And with everything going against like the sale hanging over the team and the players/fans still feeling Jose's death in the locker room/on the field, it's my opinion we are playing well.  (Check back with me after a 4 game slump.)

Yet the weird thing is we have done "well" against the Nats last year and this year.  That is, done better against them then the rest of the NL East (which this year isn't saying much).  BUT we can't do that against our nemesis, the Braves.  What is it about the Braves?  Cox isn't there, Chipper isn't there, Glavine isn't there nor Smoltz, and Andruw Jones took a hike.  So how are they doing it even in a rebuilding period?

Guess I'm posting 2 topics here so I'll add to the title.

With a rotation of the ones of the Dodgers and the Nats, plus a injury free Stanton and maybe this lineup already carried this team to the playoffs in the past three seasons.

Seriously though, where is Admin?

He is lurking. Although I don't see him on Facebook anymore.

Stanton has had a great year, so has Ozuna. Yelich is gonna end up having another good year once the season ends.

The 4-19 stretch wrecked the season. Otherwise the team has played very well all things considered, over a 90 win pace. Unfortunately I don't see the Rockies or DBacks coming back to the field. Team could make it more interesting with a sweep of the Rockies next weekend. Yet it would be more likely for them to be swept by the Braves this weekend, the way they play them, and particularly in Atlanta. Got to somehow hope they can keep it going.

Despite all the FO shenanigans and the sale of the team the players have been fun to watch all year. Just wish we had a functioning franchise that could put them in a situation to succeed.

It doesn't take long winning streaks to have a successful season - just win the bulk of your series' and you're golden. The downside to this season is that it's like nearly every other Marlins season in that they have a stretch somewhere in the first third of the season where they absolutely tank it and then spend the rest of the season fighting back to  stay at around .500 and usually falling a bit short.  The results will likely be the same record-wise but for the first time in recent memory their offense has actually been fun to watch as they aren't scoring 2-3 runs with an occasional 5 run "outburst" here and there.  Their offense has been playoff caliber for the bulk of the season although their pitching has been so poor that even had Jose not passed away it still would not have made a dent in their playoff chances this season.  I have certainly enjoyed seeing some crooked  numbers on the board this year though = )

I love and hate this post. I've taken to just watching our at bats because anything can happen. My problem, what kills my excitement, is our pitching. It is miserable. Pathetic. If we had usable pitching we might actually be competing. The team Pitching plan we talked about at the opening of the season never happened. We have no depth, and anyone who might have been ready to pitch got hurt. I don't want to talk about the pieces we have because the farm is so bad.

What makes our pitching so unbearable to watch are the walks, where we sit as the worst in baseball. Just frustrating to watch the constant struggle of our pitchers to command the strike zone, seems there is usually at least one inning in a game where multiple walks pile up and we're giving away multiple runs. The screwups on the base paths have also hurt. The at bats though, compared to the years previous, have been a breath of fresh air. Ozuna, Stanton, Yelich, Realmuto and Bour while he was healthy (big loss) have been a pleasure to watch. Some very real progress there and a very strong core.

Speaking of bad pitching, the Mets closer just walked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth

To save some the hassle of searching.... it was Robles, not Ramos.

Im still sticking to my hypothesis of Bald Eagle being Admin.

Not on Facebook as well? It feels strange that he would dissappear like that from one second to the next.

Leave L@rry alone, he might have found a partner for once in his life think about it

Wasn't Ramos supposed to be their closer?

The game was tied, maybe they were saving Ramos in case the Mets took the lead? I'm just guessing, I didn't watch the game.

I've been here since 2003. It does not feel right not having him around, in all honesty I'm a bit concern.

It’s not that easy to just have a rotation like LA and WAS have.

What I mean was more of "our lineup would be good enough to match a rotation like that".

Washington has a much better offense overall than the Marlins do in 2017.

I know people keep talking about how great the Marlins offense is, but that's quite correct. They have some awesome core players but overall production is still middle of the pack in the NL. Roughly average.

I agree with this. It is quite correct.

if you're too concern try to contact him.
