August 11, 20179 yr Watch the game sell out tonight or tomorrow gotta make a statement to this shit ownership! probably soon anyway as Stanton gets closer to 42 (and 43)
August 11, 20179 yr I don't mind this, but I would have preferred Mas. Better to have one guy that has most of the money then 16 other guy in the group. That is ridiculous.
August 11, 20179 yr I don't mind this, but I would have preferred Mas. Better to have one guy that has most of the money then 16 other guy in the group. That is ridiculous. It's not ridiculous, but having Jeter run the team is risky. At least Sherman is an actual marlins fan.
August 11, 20179 yr Jeter and Co. better spend on payroll and recruit good free agents to come south Better chance there's a firesale.
August 11, 20179 yr Guys. Loria is going the fuck away. I've been waiting for this for over a decade. FUCK YES WOOOOOOOOOOOO
August 11, 20179 yr Author Haven't been this happy since winning the WS in 2003, time to get the pots and pans and head out to La Carreta and then the game!
August 11, 20179 yr Watch the game sell out tonight or tomorrow gotta make a statement to this shit ownership! Won't happen. Stupid Miami fans still won't come out. The world thinks it's as easy as "the day Loria leaves is the day this franchise is saved" and that's far from the case.
August 11, 20179 yr Pardon me for being skeptical but I'm not letting myself get too excited about this yet. For months news has turned and shifted at a moment's notice. Loria "agreed" to sell to Jeter like in April anyways. Remember it was reported as a "handshake agreement" and news everywhere made it sound like the sale was done. To be fair todays report seems the furthest along but I'm almost ready for the next report to say something like "it's only a verbal agreement and Jeter still needs some thing some thing and the Mas group is going for a final push and Manfred has to approve something something and then Loria makes a statement saying What Sale?" Etc etc.
August 11, 20179 yr Rosenthal says Sherman is control person and Jeter is CEO. Who is this Sherman fellow?
August 11, 20179 yr Might not even be my second choice. It's like Loria is on a mission to fuck up this franchise in any way possible. These guys get bonus points for being from NY. Especially Jeter. He alone will bring new fans to the team. Also the culture thing. I guess Jeter has a +1 in that too.
August 11, 20179 yr Not a Marlins fan here, but I'm very interested to see if Michael Jordan does the same thing as minority owner of the Fish that he did as minority owner of the Bobcats/Hornets.
August 11, 20179 yr Rosenthal says Sherman is control person and Jeter is CEO. Who is this Sherman fellow? Hopefully not Joel Sherman of the NY Post. Or maybe Sherman from Sherman and Peabody?
August 11, 20179 yr Sale might not even be completed until OCTOBER... I'm telling ya guys... You can smile and have a beer tonight but don't go crazy yet, this is far from over and it's still gonna be a while before the changes start happening. It's still the Loria and Mike Hill show for a bit longer.
August 11, 20179 yr But isn't it frightening that Jeter probably doesn't know anything about running this team, given his total lack of business experience? The only thing going for him is his Yankees pedigree and "clean" image (which I think is kind of laughable anyway). You're right. This is probably good news from a public and media standpoint as in the marlins are gonna get some positive news headlines for once and transplanted New Yorkers here are gonna love this but it's still questionable how good this is for the team. I mean it's only decidedly good in the sense that it's no longer Loria in charge. Beyond that I'm gonna wait until I see results.
