Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers

congrats dude

No, congrats to you.  You have been spewing nonsense and contradicting yourself for days on these boards.  You're reputation on here speaks for itself.

Anyone expecting the team to send back Planters was stupid anyway.

It was blue diamond discussed

Its funny some of you are calling for everyone to be traded, like you work for Jeter or own part of the team.Trading everyone benefits none but Jeter/Sherman.

It benefits you too actually but you fail to realize that.

please show me how ive contradicted myself.

These arent great Prospects for the 70th time.

and castro isnt a great player.  and we will be a last place team regardless.  for the 70th time.

The one area where i think the hate is ok is the PR stuff.  I think he needs to do a better job of communicating the team's goals rather than sitting back and not saying anything and letting the media control the narrative.

A complete teardown and rebuild is exactly what this team needs.  This team is not good, has a huge payroll, and has no minor league depth.  Any other franchise does this and people understand.  We havent had a winning season since 2009 and havent been close to playoff contention even with the 2nd wild card addition.  We are a pathetic franchise.  A complete overhaul is needed.  The PR stuff is just impossible for him because he is doing the rebuild for a franchise where the previous owners have torn down the team for monetary reasons, but not for the reasons of trying to create a consistent winner like this current ownership is doing.

Ok, but they do an overhaul, and it's not as good as the one we had last year ? Just because they tear it down, doesn't guarantee that we are going to be better off. In fact odds are that we won't be. It's a real shitty situation to be in......but it's the Marlins, so what else is new  :rain

perfect, lets just add a third baseman and some mid level arms!  to a team that has a payroll already near 140 milion and is hemorrhaging money.  That should only cost another 40 million in payroll.  And lets just hope we have no injuries because lord knows our minor league depth aint helping anything if anyone goes down.

And the main culprit for our farm system is still with the franchise. Don't you realize that ?

who ever guaranteed that we are going to be better off?  there is no guarantee of that, but it's about the way the best teams in the league are building their teams in this modern age of baseball.  you get cheap, cost controlled talent as a young core, let that core develop while also investing in the minor leagues and IFA, have that core hopefully grow together, and then when they are ready to contribute in the majors you use the money you have available due to the fact that all of those guys should be cost controlled talent and you sprinkle in a smart free agent signing here and there. By developing all those guys and investing in the draft and IFA, you then also have a surplus of talent that you can use in trades to get those finishing touches on hopefully championship level teams.  It's what the cubs did with lester and then getting guys like chapman and Quintana, etc. and it's what the astros did with guys like McCann, Reddick, Guerriel, Verlander.  There's no guarantee it will work obviously.  I dont think anyone has ever said that it is guaranteed.

For those saying this is a "good move" and that it "had to be done," think about this: the Marlins just traded arguably the most dominant hitter in the game for a salary dump. I'm one of the most optimistic people on this forum, but even I know this deal sucks.

At least when the Marlins traded Cabrera and Willis, they got two blue-chip prospects (at the time) in Maybin and Miller back. I know that situation was a bit different due to money and all, but still, this is an awful, awful deal.

As for the Yankees? They just landed one of the best players in baseball for virtually nothing and are going to add him into a lineup that made it to Game 7 of the ALCS last year and they didn't even have to trade a single one of their top prospects to get the deal done. Hats off to Brian Cashman. The dude is phenomenal. As long as Stanton stays healthy, the Yanks could end up winning a few World Series.

If the Volquez and Chen contracts arent insured the Marlins are fucking dumber than anyone could have fucking imagined.

Winning costs money.

Of course, they're insured, and we won't lose much on them at all. As long as they stay unhealthy.

that is worrisome, i agree, but I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that Loria interfered way too much with baseball decisions.  I also dont think Hill is here long term and i think he is more of a short term guy who knows our system.

Lol. This package was better than the SF deal. You're clueless.

so because you have a different opinion on the prospects involved that you too have never seen play,  i am clueless?  4 of the last 5 first round picks for the Giants all of whom have been on a top 100 list in the last 2 years is better than the offer we ended up having to take.  I like this offer, but that offer was better.  and the STL deal blew both of these out of the water.

We still never heard what the full offer actually was unless you have inside info.

it was flaherty, alcantara, + an OF and we eat some of the stanton money.  it's similar to the deal we will end up accepting for Ozuna from them.

My opinion is based on their stats and what people who have closely watch them play have said.

I'm beginning to think you know even less than I expected and you base everything you say on prospects on how they are ranked on top 10 or top 100 lists. Because you haven't contributed an ounce of insight beyond saying where a prospect is ranked on a list.

Beede has been good his entire minor league career prior to this past year.  Arroyo has been above average in the minors and hit the shit out of the ball this year in AAA before getting hurt and unanimously has a great hit tool.  Shaw was one of the top power bats in his draft and has done nothing to temper the expectations of 30+HR potential, and Ramos is a 5 tool prospect, albeit a young one.

They are also all former first round picks with a solid pedigree.  Getting those 4 guys would have been a really good deal for us given stanton's contract and NTC.  im done debating this, we can come back to it in 3 years and see what they turn into

When is Jeter gonna trade my son? He makes way too much money for how lame he is. Dump his salary asap please.

:8_laughing:  Wondered where you've been :p

Jeter has no business running an MLB team I wouldn't hold my breathe. It's more likely that Sherman tells him to leave in 5 years imo

I think it will be less. I think Jeter will be frustrated by the end of year 2 and want out.
