December 12, 20178 yr I don't give a shit if he's at the meetings or not, but boy... for someone calling the shots from the big boy chair... sure does look rather fucking arrogant that he's not there. Just how he didn't need to speak to Stanton. He did speak to Stanton. In person. The idea of him not meeting with Stanton is another lie spread by the media.
December 12, 20178 yr eh, tbh he should be at the fucking winter meetings. That tweet says Jeter wasn't answering reporters questions at the winter meetings... That's 100% a lie because he had a conference call answering questions earlier that day.
December 12, 20178 yr That tweet says Jeter wasn't answering reporters questions at the winter meetings... That's 100% a lie because he had a conference call answering questions earlier that day. Ok? conferebce call = nothing but lazy and afraid.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Some of the same people who get offended about some of the things Jeter has done are the same people who politically vote for Donald Trump. It's rather irrelevant that Jeff Conine, Andre Dawson, and Jack McKeon are no longer a part of the organization. Heck, they were eventually offered lesser roles and chose to leave. Stop being snowflakes. The only thing I don't get is why Mike Hill is still here. He should've taken a hike with them. Also, Jeter did talk to Stanton plenty. The Stanton story is really a matter of which side you decide to believe. There are certain reports indicating that Stanton was the one who acted like a dick throughout the negotiations, but, of course, it's easier to take Stanton's side after what he did for us and past years of ownership debacles. Brian Sabean came out and said that it was Stanton's agent who didn't make his preferences clear. From a business standpoint, I don't see how this current ownership group is getting blamed for the Stanton negotiations, especially after what has been reported the past few days. Jeter and company have been pretty honest about wanting to subtract. Stanton did not want to. Stanton wanted the team to add a couple of pitchers via free agency, which has clearly worked out so well in the past. I love Stanton, but lets stop pretending like he's some guardian angel in this whole thing. He was a bit of a dick yesterday himself in the press conference.

December 12, 20178 yr Author Lol this is ridiculous. I don't see any comparison whatsoever with anything going on in the political arena. Why not? Trump has done things way worse than letting go of 3 irrelevant employees, which is something an owner has the right to do. Whenever it happens politically, you tell Das and company to stop being snowflakes and put a burger on the forum. Maybe Conine, Dawson, etc. should stop being snowflakes, as well. It's a business. And, again, it's not as if they did anything valuable here that can't be replaced.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Also, Jeter needs some coaching on how to speak to the media. I guess because he was kind of media shy when he was a player. In both press conferences so far he comes off as nervous and combative at the same time. It's not a big deal yet and he hasn't done anything incredibly damaging in either of those pressers, but it's something I noticed and something he needs to work on. Says the guy who voted for Trump. Stop being a snowflake.
December 12, 20178 yr I think it's beginning with this question, what's the reason he wanted be the owner of this suck team ? I don't think he would make much money from this team,so the only reason in my mind was he wants to be the savior of this team but he was just too innocent to try to do it,as a legend of MLB he may think it's something he needs to do after retired from a player to own a MLB franchise,so he desperately try to buy this team no matter how much he needs to pay for that and outbid Jorge Mas to won this team(the astronomical number debt from this team should be the reason Mas didn't match up with Jeter's offer),after he really owned this team he just started to know how difficult it would be financially to keep this team running,so saving every dollar he could and get rid of all the high priced players become his only choice.you know what ? he could easily sitting at home and watching other people doing this shit if he didn't want to be the savior of this suck team.
December 12, 20178 yr Author I think it's beginning with this question, what's the reason he wanted be the owner of this suck team ? I don't think he would make much money from this team, Jeter? You must not be aware of the finances. He's already making a profit.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Lets see what they do with Ozuna and Yelich -- deals that should look more like baseball trades without NTC's/major money involved. If those deals suck, lets start the Jeter hate then. Right now, this ownership group never even got a honeymoon stage for doing things that any ownership group would've done, as well. The hate should be directed at Loria and MLB right now, not this ownership group.
December 12, 20178 yr He did speak to Stanton. In person. The idea of him not meeting with Stanton is another lie spread by the media. Dude there's a direct quote of him, while they were shopping Stanton, saying he hasn't talked to him and doesn't need to. Save the BS. It's not a lie spread by the media.
December 12, 20178 yr Ok? conferebce call = nothing but lazy and afraid. She still lied. Media spreading lies to continue their agenda of making Jeter look bad even when it's unwarranted and false.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Lol. One is a baseball team, the other is the government. What do they have to do with one another? They aren't remotely similar in terms of scale and checks & balances. I have no clue what you are trying to imply here. I'm not so much taking issue with the ethics of firing someone, but with the repercussions on the image and public perception of the franchise. And the fact that an executive who is not attentive to that might have some impairment in his judgment. Not sure if you are trolling or what, but you look like a total fool here if this is the best response you can muster to the legitimate PR/branding issues that I outlined in my earlier post. Not once did I allude to politics in anything I said. Did you expect positive PR this offseason? There's no way that this ownership group could've traded Stanton and come away with it with positive PR even if Jeter would've sucked Stanton's dick on the way out. Not sure what you're taking issue with, really. Most fans down here don't really care about Jeff Conine, Andre Dawson, and Jack McKeon anyway. No one was coming to the stadium next year because those guys were still representing the organization. The analogy is that, just how you laugh at liberals for getting offended about things that don't mean anything, you're now pretending to be offended about things nobody cares about.
December 12, 20178 yr Jeter? You must not be aware of the finances. He's already making a profit. If you mean that 5 million yearly salary,I think he could earn that easily by other way and not be the sinner to trade G.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Dude there's a direct quote of him, while they were shopping Stanton, saying he hasn't talked to him and doesn't need to. Save the BS. It's not a lie spread by the media. 1. They talked. 2. He didn't really need to have a discussion with him, he's right. Both sides were pretty clear about what they wanted to do. What's the point of the discussion?
December 12, 20178 yr She still lied. Media spreading lies to continue their agenda of making Jeter look bad even when it's unwarranted and false. Why media needs to make a MLB legend look bad ? maybe because he trying to do something he didn't capable to do.
December 12, 20178 yr Dude there's a direct quote of him, while they were shopping Stanton, saying he hasn't talked to him and doesn't need to. Save the BS. It's not a lie spread by the media. He was asked at the GM meetings if he had spoken to Stanton yet about the trade rumors, he said he had not because at that point there was nothing close to a trade in the works yet. That job belonged to Mike Hill who at that point had definitely been in contact with Stanton and his agent. Since then, as the trade talks did get to the next level, Jeter has met with Stanton in person yet for nearly a month the media has continued to say that Jeter hasn't and wouldn't meet with Stanton. Let me know which part of that is BS. There's 2 sides to every story and the media has collectively chosen to take the side against Jeter. Would be nice if they ever decided to actually list the facts instead of positioning their opinions as facts.
December 12, 20178 yr Why media needs to make a MLB legend look bad ? maybe because he trying to do something he didn't capable to do. Good question. I wish I knew the answer to it. But every time I look up news I keep seeing the same subjective opinions bunched together that Jeter is doing everything wrong. It's as if the media all gathered together and made a pact to irrationally blame Jeter for everything. I'm waiting for one ballsy reporter to write a piece saying what Jeter has done right.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Lol I'm not "offended" by anything here. I want the franchise to thrive and dig itself out of an enormous financial hole. I there to be more than 11,000 fans in the stadium as Stanton makes a run at 61 HR. PR and branding matter when you have a fickle and minimal fanbase. Maybe you are triggered by Trump and that's why you thought it was appropriate to bring all of that stuff up. Or maybe just being intellectually lazy. Or both, who knows Loria's most damaging influence was mostly regarding bad baseball personnel decisions. But he and Samson were basically a lightning rod of bad PR for well over a decade. I was hoping that once Jeter took over, he wouldn't basically do a very Loria thing in one of his very first PR moves. You might say fans "don't care" (and I think that's debatable), but what Jeter did garnered a lot of negative press. It leaves a bad impression on anyone who casually follows the franchise and might have read a column basically telling everyone how thoughtless and careless Jeter was. This is how the business world works. I can't wait to see what irrelevant political jabs you try to hit me with next. Lol There's no jab left, really. Don't really care about Trump, just find the hypocrisy rather humorous. It's like Trump is god, and the rules don't apply to him. Nobody genuinely cares about Jack McKeon, Jeff Conine, and Andre Dawson. You said it yourself. Fans didn't show up with Stanton going for 61 home runs. The only way fans *might* show up here is with a winning team. That's the bottom line. That's the only way to gain good PR here -- build a winning team. It's not just the Marlins; it's all the other teams too. Fans only show up when you win. That's the bottom line -- anything else is just "snowflake" talk.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Lol, why are you calling me a snowflake when you are now getting so unhinged about people "hating" on Jeter? Look at the title of this thread for christ sake. Because look at the reasons you've provided. You sound like a snowflake. I don't really care about Jeter. I just find the unwarranted bashing rather humorous. I've never even liked Jeter to be honest. Most non-Yankee fans would probably agree.
December 12, 20178 yr But yea sure let's pile on the hate just because he's Jeter right? Glad the media is so fair to everyone.
December 12, 20178 yr Author But yea sure let's pile on the hate just because he's Jeter right? Glad the media is so fair to everyone. It's rather hilarious at this point, really. It's made me like Jeter more.
December 12, 20178 yr It's rather hilarious at this point, really. It's made me like Jeter more. Exactly. I don't even think I like Jeter that much but at this point it's just so obviously biased that I can't ignore it.
December 12, 20178 yr Author Samson was wrong about a lot of things, but I think he was right when he was saying that he was working in an "entertainment" industry first and foremost. Clearly, he wasn't. His entertainment brought no fans to the ballpark. Because the team sucked.
December 12, 20178 yr Author If you never liked Jeter, why do you care so much to even start this thread? Frankly, it seems a little hypocritical, especially with the bizarre snowflake jabs. Because the criticisms of him have become rather hilarious. I'm not the only fan in the thread pointing it out either. Don't pretend to be insulted at the snowflake jab lol.
