December 11, 20178 yr Why have so many articles said that Jeter will not reinvest money into the team? Why is that being assumed? That seems to have been repeated multiple times with zero basis. Do people realize the ownership changed here? It's almost like they think that since Loria was pocketing money that Jeter will automatically do the same. I'm confused because that's pretty irrational. If anything I'd actually expect the media to do the opposite and be like "well at least Jeter IS gonna try and reinvest in the team unlike Loria."
December 11, 20178 yr Does Rich Waltz' salary come from the Marlins because if it doesn't I can't think of one reason that Jeter would be involved in that firing. There's no way Jeter is worrying about Fox Sports Florida's problems especially if the financials aren't coming from the team.

There's no way Jeter is worrying about Fox Sports Florida's problems especially if the financials aren't coming from the team. Exactly. What makes sense is that Fox anticipates lower ratings and couldn't justify Rich's salary (with probably an annual raise coming) and they didn't extend him. Jeter's rebuild caused that but it is not Jeter's decision to get rid of Rich.
December 11, 20178 yr Maybe it wasn't about financials? Then why would Jeter care about it? He's the CEO of the Marlins not of Fox Sports Florida.
December 11, 20178 yr Yeah... firing Waltz could be all about rebranding, a new image, a new era... Or it could be because Jeter wants to give his guy a chance at it. We don't know. But it doesn't seem very likely that FS Florida fired Rich Waltz. There isn't a reason for that.
December 11, 20178 yr Why did Loria care about the trivial shit that he cared about? It's not out of the realm of possibility that someone like Jeter who kept dumping people from his ownership group during after fighting for "control" might have strong opinions on frivolous shit. But Waltz doesn't work for Jeter. Yeah Jeter did wrong dumping Conine McKeon Dawson and Perez the way he did but that's not the same as the firing of Waltz. There is zero benefit or reason for Jeter to deal with Waltz' job status unless he's paying his salary.

Jeter will be hooking his people up. We shall see.
December 12, 20178 yr And they'd surely not do this right? They'd keep the roster together for another 74 win season and another debt-ridden year in the books with no depth coming in the system. I want a full rebuild. I don't mind any of the on the field moves he's made so far. Different owners who would be doing the same thing. And if that's your reason for hating him, maybe you should hate MLB instead. Im pissed at Manfred and Loria more than Jeter of course. Stanton is gone because of Loria and Jeter is here because of Loria and Manfred. Im just not gonna sit here and stan for a guy who 1) shouldn't be here and 2) will probably do a shit job rebuilding. Trading talented guys like Yelich and Ozuna for prospects is the easy part. It's everything after that that I dont trust him with. He never watched baseball after retiring, doesn't even believe in using analytics, and he's just a dick. What is there to like?

People do understand that he's not the GM and that his title of president of baseball operations is similar to Samson's role, right? Jeter isnt working the fucking phones making trades lol. And where has he said he doesnt believe in using analytics?
December 12, 20178 yr Yeah Samson's role has yet to be filled. If Sherman is Loria then one would think Jeter is Samson but he is not. Jeter doesn't exactly replace any one person. If anything Jeter's role is a combo of Loria Samson and Hill's roles in the general sense.
December 12, 20178 yr Samson wasn't president of baseball operations And jeter isnt really president of baseball operations either. My general point is he's not making calls or negotiating with agents/gm's.
December 12, 20178 yr Hire verne troyer for Samson's role. 1998 wants their pop culture references back.
December 12, 20178 yr 1998 wants their pop culture references back. I keep seeing 1998 posted here lately though.
December 12, 20178 yr It is pretty clear the new group in charge is not impressed with how things were done before so it would stand to reason a different blue print exists. Thus no direct replacement for Samson is not surprising
December 12, 20178 yr I keep seeing 1998 posted here lately though. Oh yeah true. Unrelated but I can't to see Stone Cold Steve Austin knock out Mr McMahon tonight on Raw.

Thus no direct replacement for Samson is not surprising Well they are looking for one so it's not like the position is gone. They've hired an outside firm to hire someone for the position.

December 12, 20178 yr The way WWE recycles characters, this may actually be happening. Lol I thought of this as I wrote it but no it is not. Austin actually hasn't wrestled since 2003 because of spinal injuries. Just an fyi
December 12, 20178 yr Great example of the media sending out bullshit that sadly the public grabs onto and eventually everyone thinks it's true... today at the winter meetings Jeter had a conference call with reporters and gave an answer to every one of their questions but this misinformed idiot puts out this tweet... He's not working the phones but he's the one putting the general strategy together. The analytics thing was from a quote he made when he first bought the team.
December 12, 20178 yr Is it because he’s a former Yankee? Because he kept that moronic fool Mike Hill as GM?

eh, tbh he should be at the fucking winter meetings.
December 12, 20178 yr I don't give a shit if he's at the meetings or not, but boy... for someone calling the shots from the big boy chair... sure does look rather fucking arrogant that he's not there. Just how he didn't need to speak to Stanton.
