Why has Derek Jeter received so much hate?

You staying after all @Rydawg?

I hope so.

At least you've been consistent with your thoughts on DJ.

The short answer is yes, I am staying.

I'm a home town guy.  I love the Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins although baseball is my favorite sport.

I did strongly consider jumping ship though.  I decided that if Stanton would have been traded to the Cardinals I would have joined Das as a Cardinal fan.

The Cardinals were my childhood team from 1981 until the Marlins came to town.  Yes, some of us were born before the Marlins exsisted.  Shit, I was born before cable TV, the internet, and cellular phones.  LOL.

I used to follow the Cardinals in the morning paper box scores and on the 10 o'clock evening news sports segment.  The only games on TV were the Saturday games on National TV. We had to watch whichever team was on.

Anyway, sorry for rambling and going down memory lane.

I wanted to like you because of this post but then you said you considered joining up with Das.

But I thought we were going to share a boat ride?

Yea,it's difficult to root for other teams whole-heartedly after you root for one team for twenty years, but it's much more difficult to continue to root for this team after all your favorite players were gone…so maybe the best way was to stop watching baseball for years.

Ok, so it's probably a mistake for me to be doing this, but I'll ask:

Why do you want to keep Ozuna knowing that the Marlins could get awesome prospects for him and knowing that he's a free agent after two seasons? Why would you want to keep Ozuna knowing that the Marlins already traded Stanton and said they aren't adding players in free agency?

The reasons that not rationally.

Not if Das is in the boat.

We're good then.  That was the STL boat I was talking about not the Miami boat.  Lol

Main reason for me is that he and his group are too poor to be owning this franchise. It seems like a vanity thing and if Jeter weren't a golden boy, Mas would have possibly gotten the team.

But do we know they are really poor ? Or are they just being cheap like Loria ? Or are they being sensible and deciding to not spend now, when they are doing the things they need to be doing ?

But I have been disappointed by the lack of fan involvement. They seem to want to remain as aloof as Loria was. Seen but not heard, and tucked away in the Marlins Park Throne Room, planning his next Ministerial decision.

I think the major benchmark will be next years draft and IFA.  if you see them spending more in those areas, it will be a different era.  IF they dont, its more of the same that we had under Loria.

Haven't they already traded away the majority of their IFA money for 2018?  Serious question.

we didnt really have a chance on any of the guys we could get.  The most important issue with us in IFA is simply building relationships down there.

Not to be petty but one of your two benchmarks is next years IFA class for which we have little money for because we traded the slots away to shed salaries.

If Derek Jeter can get rid of these clown uniforms

Yes.  That is the KEY to turning the franchise around.  Not better scouting.  Not unfucking the way IFA’s are handled, not throwing tons of money at shitty relievers......

It’s the CLOWN uniforms that’s holding this organization back!

no, we traded this years remaining money, and it helped us get 2 roster players in Smith and Cooper and better prospects in the dee gordon trade.

I think once people give this rebuild a year or so and see the direction and see the prospects actually developing in the minors the tide will turn on the backlash that jeter is getting.

Lashing out happens sometimes when your heart gets crushed. Should we be immune to it by now? Maybe but it still hurts. However I do get excited to see what the look of the team will be in 2018 and beyond. I was pissed 2005-2006 firesale but i ended up loving that team.

I hope for the best.

Yeah, because that's what I said.  I said it would already be better than Loria's ownership, who did none of the things you mentioned either.
