August 11, 20188 yr No one has answered my question if they think Bour will actually be any good in 2020 or after. Probably not, but what if he is ?
August 11, 20188 yr No one has answered my question if they think Bour will actually be any good in 2020 or after. 32 isn’t the end all age for a power hitting first baseman. Yes, he was having a down year but it’s a travesty to give him up for next to nothing. Bour was a proven player that could of definitely helped out for 2020 and after. Now this team has 0 power hitters

Now this team has 0 power hitters If he was non-tendered in the off-season (a high likelihood given this trade), he wouldn't be here in 2020. That also is his last year of team control anyway.
August 11, 20188 yr The negative people don't believe this team has any chance of competing in the next few years, yet they are pissed about this trade involving a guy who was under control only for 2 more years. It doesn't make sense. Well except for the fact, a small group of people will complain about every single transaction.

I'm not pissed at the trade, but i was hoping for maybe a bit more You have to factor in he was likely going to be non-tendered and was claimed by Philly. The only team Miami could deal him to at that point was Philly so it was either keep him and lose him for nothing after season or get something back for him today.

TB got CJ Cron for a similar value and Cron does pretty much what Bour does
August 11, 20188 yr a small group of people will complain about every single transaction. And a small group of people will be overly optimistic about every single transaction
August 11, 20188 yr No one has answered my question if they think Bour will actually be any good in 2020 or after. pal I already said his periphs look great and i expect opposite regression. i've been pretty happy with trade deadline trades. I think this one sucks diq
August 11, 20188 yr We even don't know that Bour was put on the waiver before he got traded,so don't be surprised if more veterans got traded in the next few days.

It doesn't make sense. Well except for the fact, a small group of people will complain about every single transaction. Trading assets and rebuilding are all about maximizing value. That’s what it all comes down to. Trading a legitimate power hitting 1B who won’t be here in 2020 isn’t the problem. Getting a C level prospect in return is the problem.
August 11, 20188 yr Well except for the fact, a small group of people will complain about every single transaction. "Marlins trade McKenzie Mills for Mike Trout." MILLS WAS OUR FUTURE, MAN
August 11, 20188 yr "Marlins trade McKenzie Mills for Mike Trout." MILLS WAS OUR FUTURE, MAN Dude you joke now but if they trade him in a year or two, he’ll be a can’t miss player.
August 11, 20188 yr "Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said. "We like athletes. We like players who are going to impact the game offensively, defensively, [with] base running." Obviously,Bour was just too fat to be a pure athlete this team want…
August 11, 20188 yr And a small group of people will be overly optimistic about every single transaction Then you have the transactions that are neither terrible or tremendous. Most transactions are, in a vacuum, in this category. Trading Bour for McKenzie is one of these. Disappointing to see a familiar face go. Certainly hurtful to our bottom third of MLB team in the current season. Impactful to future years? Unlikely. It frees up a 40 man roster spot. We don’t go to arbitration on a guy the team clearly doesn’t have in the long term plans. There probably isn’t much more to it than that. Wont someone think of the children!!! (I gotta get off Twitter)

August 11, 20188 yr Every player the Marlins trade is an amazing piece that demands a good return, but until they are traded they are part of the reason for a shitty roster.

August 11, 20188 yr Oh and apparently this spring the marlins were an embarrassing AAAA roster that didn’t deserve anyone’s attention. But when we trade those guys we are supposed to get other teams valuable assets
