Machado is still in this fantasy world of being worth far more than he thinks he is as him and his agent havent adjusted for the realities of the market.  

 

To Machado I guess whatever he signs is a discount.  The reality is that its probably true market value.

They better not. Very small sample size for India so I wouldn't say he's not a good player to get. He was a very good collegiate player and a 5th overall pick last season for a reason. Still, the Marlins need a "sure thing" aka "can't miss player" for JT.

I read some article from a Padres fan who says if they add Machado they could easily still be under their payroll from last opening day. If that's true then Padres front office is probably salivating at that idea.

That and their insane prospect inventory, which is due in large to smart drafting and going on all in internationally a few years ago.

All that posturing for months and months is the reason I can't see it happening. This isn't a clear rush job situation like Yelich was and all this time the Marlins have maintained their high price tag... I can't see them suddenly backing off at this point when teams have clearly still been interested.

How is the pressure on Miami? They don't have to trade him and are ok with keeping him if need be and have maintained their high price tag and who also aren't contending this year. The pressure is on the other teams who need to decide whether to give in to the demands to improve their teams sooner rather than later.

It’s very possible the Marlins view India as similar to Senzel.  While unproven, India can flat out rake and they profile relatively similarily defensively
