Unveiling of new logos and uniforms

Featured Replies

We've never in our history had a cap with no fish represented on it

Good point. I think it was you on the creamer board that went through other teams uniform iterations from their early years.  Original teams.  It’s an interesting exercise. You can see how many of them had some big changes but little elements survived and were developed into something that lasted.  I suppose you could say that about our Marlin on the cap

What special design? There's nothing there that would make it cost more to make. It could arguably be cheaper as I remember an article in 2012 saying the old caps were the most intricate caps in MLB history because of thread counts or something like that saying it was a longer process to make one cap than any other.

It would be a good news if the new gears be cheaper.

It wasn't me but that was a great post. Apparently we should be made fun of for having 3 brands in 25 years. I guess we're the only team who's ever tweaked their uniforms.

Interesting look.

The blue is a lot more unique than the red.

In looking at some video of Harrison in yesterdays game I think the blue looks even more teal in sunlight, arguably almost more teal than our original teal which could look dark and greenish in some settings. I think this blue is gonna please everyone more and more over time. Check it out here especially the sleeve patch...

I didn’t comb through all the chatter on that but there are lots of teams that have made changes.  And honestly if there weren’t..who cares.  The marlins are our team and who cares what other people think.

I’m so quick to give opinions and moments like  yesterday’s game are a good reminder to sit back and see it in all applications.  It will look different under the roof of marlins park too. I think people also need to realize that colors don’t jump off and he screen the way maybe they imagine.  Watch a mariners game for example. When the camera pans away you don’t really see their green outlines.  You see mostly navy.

I’m really happy with the script. Moreso than I thought I would be.  I also think it was smart to maintain the continuity of having Miami in black on the home shirt

How did you feel about the orange ones?

Those and the greys were my favorite. It’s not the color of the blue jersey, I actually like that. I just feel like the blue one should have had the full word mark cause all the bright empty blue space really stands out and makes the logo seem insignificant. Please correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like every jersey that has the cheat patch logo has pinstripes no? Is there any team with solid jerseys and a chest patch? It just looks like a plain Sunday league jersey.

It needs something. Either piping or a number.  To answer your question Detroit’s home, the As yellow alt and the cubs blue alt has just a single patch there. The cubs one is really plain too and it could use something more to it.

There are many jerseys that have a chest patch without pinstripes, Pirates Reds Arizona Giants Twins Astros Royals Cubs Tigers A's Padres White Sox, actually there's more teams that have it without pinstripes than with.

Would you feel better if that jersey stays as a BP jersey because to me it's perfect for BP because of its simplicity but if they decide to use it in games then it needs the Marlins wordmark to work.

Hmm, yeah I guess it’s just a contract issue then.

Definitely, if it’s a BP Jersey then it’s all good. I agree with you there 100%

It’s interesting to note though that of all the ones you’ve listed they all have piping and or numbers except the cubs

True. A little more "something" would be great. We do have the piping though so that's more than the Cubs. Sleeve patch and front numbers would be perfect.

Unrelated, Jordan Yamamoto had this edit on his Instagram, look how good the blue background makes the jersey look. He's like a fish in the ocean. Remember a real Marlin actually has a ton of black on it too...

Good god, the people at Chris Creamers site have always be insufferable but they are particular moronic on this topic. There are some legitimate complaints but nothing ever makes them happy. If we had gone to color heavy they would have bitched about being too bright whereas now they bitch about it being bland.

Ive really come to like the name and numbers because you can really see the colors.  Over the next few years I could see the sleeve piping become more pronouced and maybe adding it around the color. What I like thought is that we have a real good base that minor changes could be made from.

So I am going to be completely honest. This new Marlins logo is better than what we had from 2012-2018. I don’t think anything will beat the OG 1993-2011, but that’s my opinion. As far as the jerseys are concerned, I do not like the blue jersey at all. I give it an F-. It doesn’t appeal to me at all. The Black Jersey I give a C. People either love the black jersey or hate it. Personally, I think the black is a little bipolar because the jerseys looks better in certain pictures with better lighting. The white jersey I give a B+. I like it, I just don’t like wearing white jerseys because they get dirty real easily. The grey jersey is an A++. I love the grey. I want the grey. It looks fresh as hell. Btw I saw the new logo in teal. I’m curious to get people’s thoughts on that as well.

I love uniforms and uniform talk which is why I go there but those people are tough to crack in so many ways. I've posted a lot there the last couple of weeks because of the rebrand but I've said all I wanted to say so I'm done posting there for a bit. I mean to each their own, differing opinions are a good thing but man that forum can weigh on you quickly. They just don't bend over there.

I go mainly for leaks and don’t post. I’ve your not a classic team you won’t get no respect.

I'm not sold on the cap, I mean maybe it would be good for BP or spring training or players weekend but the wordmark on the blue jersey like this is what I want. Maybe add a white trim to it like the numbers have...
