Unveiling of new logos and uniforms

I didn’t like how they underutilized the orange hat and the road jersey for the first few years. They should have embraced the orange more and the blue as they started to with the players weekend jerseys.

Speaking of which. I wonder if we will get a Caliente Red players weekend jersey this year.

Yea I agree with this but no to the caliente red. I strongly believe we must be a blue and black team with the red only as an accent. there are many teams that have a third color as an accent but they dont have that accent color as jerseys or caps. The Dodgers have red the Giants have a golden tan color the Yankees have red in their primary logo etc etc I strongly believe the Marlins need to keep the red as a trim only.

So have we made a decision one way or another if these are an upgrade over the previous uniforms or not? With all the faults and things we would like to tweak, as long as it's an improvement over the 2012-18 set I think that is the goal.

For me, the new white jersey (with the arm patch) is definitely an upgrade to the Loria era tops.  It’s clean and very classy.  The trim on the arms is a 10 on the 10 scale.

The wild card is the whole black hat thing.

He did say specifically red for the players weekend ones only, not as an alternate.

Yeah I didn’t mean a full time alt. Just the players weekend jersey, like the blue ones we’ve had the past few years. It’s the one place you can get away with using a fringe color.

I knew what you meant but I jumped off that point to complain about teams that use their accents colors more than they should. Apologies.

But since u mention players weekend, assuming the jersey template is the same I'd like to see a blue jersey with black sleeves and all the wordmarks and logos could be red.

The blue jersey is officially listed as an "Alternate" jersey in the catalog. Do other teams have their BP jerseys listed that way? Could point to it being worn in-game as well sometimes.

Can't really go by what the catalog says or what anything says for that matter... I remember the 2012 orange cap being listed as the road cap in a few places in 2012 and it was never once worn on the road. Also remember the orange cap in the MLB style guide was supposed to be paired with the orange jersey and that combo never happened.

Point is no matter is on paper it's up to the players to wear this stuff and it'll take time to see what they end up choosing and in what combinations.

Just noticed that if players don't wear long sleeves underneath the jerseys then the sleeve piping really becomes invisible.

Yeah, need the difference in the colors to make that more visible.

With the special design of the uniforms, I  think the cost of production would be highly than the old ones.

What special design? There's nothing there that would make it cost more to make. It could arguably be cheaper as I remember an article in 2012 saying the old caps were the most intricate caps in MLB history because of thread counts or something like that saying it was a longer process to make one cap than any other.

Yea its standard block font, used by many many teams including us forever. Though I imagine you're comparing the color to the Mariners and its close but not the same. Our letters are black trimmed in light blue the Mariners letters are navy blue trimmed in teal.

I saw a suggestion of making the sleeve piping thicker and raising it up to leave a slight gap between the piping and the edge of the sleeve like the previous unis. That would help.

Man I think these unis are so close to being so great. Its frustrating how close they are.

Remember these all star concepts were brought up last month   The new hat is along the same lines. Bright outlines.  No stitching inside the letters.  I like the concepts better than our actual new hat.  Look at that Cubs C pop.  I wonder if our new hat would look better without the Marlin on the M and with thicker blue lines and no red. Also blue button (whatever it’s called) and eyeholes (whatever they’re called).

Even with what you say @SilverBullet I think the hat logo would look better without the Marlin.

Everyday my opinion evolves.  Right now the subtle nature of the colors isn’t a problem for me.  I think the cap logo would look a lot better as just an M.  If they want to have a marlin M somewhere in the scheme save it for the blue jersey or an Alt cap

We've never in our history had a cap with no fish represented on it so, while the M wouldnt look bad alone I definitely prefer it with the fish. I also love how the fish is more 3d than the M for the first time ever.

I still haven’t  Seen it in person.  So I should reserve judgment
