Meaning worse teams have priority on a player than better teams, and since we were worse than Colorado, we'd have priority? Or is that only up to the waiver deadline and not applicable at other times?

[ATTACH]2517._xfImport[/ATTACH] Rule 5 picks need to spend an entire season in the majors and DL time does count, so this guy did do that part, but they also need 90 days on the active roster, which he hasn't done... so he doesn't need to spend all of 2019 in the majors he only needs the 90 days and then the Marlins can option him down and still keep him. So this might be a brilliant and easy move for the Marlins. It's like a shortcut to keeping a Rule 5 guy. They wait for him to get healthy, stash him in the bullpen for 90 days and he's theres to keep.

November 21, 20187 yr My final and definitive post on this guy... 1. @SonOfJack was right, before a Rule 5 guy is returned to their original team they are placed on waivers and are offered to the other 28 teams in case any of those teams want to give the guy a chance. The whole point of Rule 5 is to prevent teams from stashing guys in the minors without ever giving them an opportunity in the majors, if the waivers thing wasn't in place the original team would just stash the guy back in the minors and he would never get his opportunity. The waivers rule gives him another opportunity. 2. Confirmed that the Marlins only have to keep him in the majors for 90 days at which point he loses Rule 5 eligibility and remains with the Marlins and can be optioned down to the minors. His Rule 5 eligibility does not need to last all of the 2019 season. 3. If he isn't kept by the Marlins he goes back to... the Rockies, his original team. The Giants didn't complete the Rule 5 requirements so they don't get him back. The Giants tried to send him back to the Rockies and that's when the Marlins claimed him. With that said, if the Marlins tried sending him back to the Rockies he would again go through waivers and could even be claimed by a fourth team who would inherit the same rules relative to however long the Marlins kept him in the majors. Any questions after that?

I feel like this is a low risk, solid reward type deal. Nothing to write home about.
