Admin
C'mon man, he pitched better recently. He has, but not hard to pitch better than he was pitching. He still isn't anywhere near useful to this team. He's wasting a roster spot. Are you him? I can't imagine anyone else defending him this much. SilverBullet
Chen should be sent to the minors for a bit. I heard that anyone who struggles and then goes to the minors eventually becomes a Hall of Famer like Roy Halladay.

97marlin
Why does Nick Anderson not get more opportunities late in the game? And why aren't we having Steck figure it out in the sixth or seventh rather than in the eighth? I feel like our bullpen is a mixed bag, we have the statcast data lets use it to make informed decisions about our pen.

Yea sometimes it feels like our bullpen is really good, other times it's a train wreck... so it definitely feels like shuffling some things around and making better decisions would lead to a better bullpen... and this is one of the frustrating things about Mattingly because you'd think he'd be the one to make these calls. Mattingly seems dead set on everyone has their role, that's when I use them, not let's use them when they'd do best.

marlins_09
Smith’s velocity is down. Es no bueno. Call the Rockies and offer them: Caleb Smith & Guerrero for Colton Welker, Terrin Vavara & Ben Bowden
mystikol87
Who else is dreaming of something like: 1. Sixto Sanchez 2. Caleb Smith 3. Zac Gallen 4. Trevor Richards 5. Braxton Garrett/Pablo Lopez/Sandy Alcantara/Jordan Yamamoto

Braxton Garrett/Pablo Lopez/Sandy Alcantara/Jordan Yamamoto I understand the value of pitching depth, but this is the reason I want to trade Caleb (with the assumption that his market value isn’t ridiculously low). If we could grab a top 75-100 prospect for him with some other intriguing bats, sign me up. You’re still looking at a 2020/2021 staff of - 1. Sixto 2. Pablo 3. Sandy 4. Gallen 5. Richards Depth - Yamamoto, Neidert, Garrett, Rogers, Cabrera. And that’s with Guzman and Holloway getting moved to the pen

And also I get your point about the bats.

marlins_09
I like that rotation a whole lot better with Caleb over Sandy. And also I get your point about the bats. Sure, I get that. But I also like our projected lineup better with another Top 100 in the fold. I have nothing against Caleb, but I think this is a prime chance to capture surplus value. Again, all hinging on the fact of a team willing to pay up. He will be 28/29 next year, and hasn’t thrown more than 77IP in a big league season to date. If someone wants to pay up for him, I’m all ears

Also we might still have a couple more who sneak into the picture by the time we're ready to compete.
