April 22, 20197 yr Great pics Bullet. We get shutout anyway, open or closed and there is only a short window here that fans can enjoy the afternoon games in sunshine. Shadows have been an issue forever in baseball, but I do not recall it ever couched in such "danger" terms. As a fan, I like the open roof days. As to the "fans hate it", again, that is when it is hot, yesterday was a perfect day for the fans to sit in an open air stadium and I cannot see any fan hating the roof open yesterday. If it is a safety issue, then address it league wide, not just because it was the Marlins.

People have a problem sitting in the midday sun while watching a bottom feeder team. If this team was a consistent winner, people would have no trouble with the sun -they would show up anyway. Winning solves a lot of problems. Closing the roof didn't get the Marlins middle-of-the-pack attendance. It got them from worst, to not quite as bad, but still worst. That can't be blamed entirely on an open roof.
April 22, 20197 yr I agree about the roof being open on a hot day game being a problem. I have zero reason believing that anyone would choose not to go on a day game if they knew the roof would be open, depending on their seat location of course. I got the most annoying sunburn last Opening Day and it's the number 1 reason I chose to skip this year's Opening Day. That and my wife and kid hating that day just because they didn't go to a baseball game to bake when the ballpark has a roof. My wife's uncle literally passed out from the heat on that same Opening day. I don't think this has anything to do with the team sucking.
April 22, 20197 yr I can’t explain why but the contrast between the sun and the shade at marlins park looks far greater than those other pictures. Maybe it’s the time of day. Those LA shadows are late afternoon.

I refuse to sit in the blistering heat to watch the marlins suck. Having the roof closed during day games was one of the things i looked forward to when they made the ballpark.

April 23, 20197 yr My dad and I are so different about the roof. My dad is old school; he feels baseball should be played outside in its natural environment; I like when the roof is closed because when it is somewhat filled, it can get pretty loud. I also feel like it is cool to play baseball inside as not everyone gets a chance to experience that. Imo, The roof should only be open for certain night games; max 20 times a year.
