Yea something like this.

Why do u think they're not close with Reynolds? Not giving up enough and/or Pirates holding their ground knowing they have leverage?

Probably both, honestly. I think Ng is an intelligent person and knows how much someone's worth... I just think the priorities are not right. They are perpetually looking into the future - which I am for, but there needs to be incremental improvement.

My optimism was based on me thinking they actually were open to spending money. It looks like they aren't, which can lead to a series of terrible moves both on the trade and FA side.

They're going to miss out on Reynolds, then are going to sign Soler for more money than he's worth because they need someone. They'd be in a much better position of they had spent more on a Correa and shifted things around, or even a Castellanos as DH. This just screams Jeffrey Loria

Meanwhile they're completing ignoring the RP market because they're so focused on CF.

Maybe they're pursuit Jansen now, Sherman wants him.

I'm in the same boat here. Even said earlier, worry about the 2023-2025 teams later, get Reynolds now. Eury is again the only untouchable so there are so many options we can send out that way.

The answer really is to pay whatever you have to for Correa, shift Jazz to CF and Miggy to 2B. Keep your prospects or buy one hell of a DH... or hell, get Castellanos as your DH.

You keep all or most of your prospects and make a mid-year acquisition. Your team will be good and as these guys live up to their potential, your team gets better or you can flip them for other pieces you need.

With all that's been said today, fingers crossed that Ng and Sherman feel this urgency too and decide they need Reynolds and just get it done quickly.

We've preached some patience with good reason but there's no way Ng isn't feeling the same frustration we're now feeling.

You've got to think she has her hands tied at this point. The frustration has to be immense.

Maybe they're attempting to get more than just Reynolds from Pittsburgh and that's the hold-up.

Wish they would have tried to grab Reynolds at the same time as Stallings, really.

They should ask for that yellow bridge it's so awesome.

I wonder if the Pirates are dicking around in any way. They don't need to trade him, might they be making an unrealistic ask?

I don't think so because if that's the case any rational person would have moved on. It's probably bordering on unrealistic, but realistic enough to keep the Marlins focused.

If I were to guess, I'd say they want 3 top prospects and the Marlins want to give 2. They aren't moving forward with the 3 top prospects because they keep looking at Soler and then back to Reynolds again and just wincing.

There's just not enough reported on Reynolds for me to think they'll get him. I think they'll either go for Soler or get a lesser CF via trade.

Again, this is just what I think and is not based on anything other than a guess from reading Twitter.

Yep. This will be another shitty off-season where they overpay for some subpar talent but it's on short deals so they can say they tried while wasting this cheap playoff level Frontline pitching. I can feel th le disappointment already. I ain't watching this year if they fuck up yet another off-season with cheapness.

I have convinced myself this will end with either Laureano or Soler.

Or they'll pull Marsh out of nowhere. He's the type of low floor crapshoot the old Marlins loved.

Like the first round picks of the next 100 years !?

Lots of disappointment here based on just hunches. I'm not saying it's not justified but they could still swoop in and get Reynolds and we're good. Let's breathe.

Annoyance level rose today but I still have some hope left.
