So you do the next best thing, build out a top to bottom deep roster so everything is competitive. The Rays have been doing that for years with great success, even without a world series. I think Laureano, Kemp, Soler, Tepera, and Duffy, and jettisoning Aguilar, Bass, and non-core 4 prospects (Bleday/Burdick, Salas/Eder, Fulton, etc. to Oakland) gets you there pretty quickly. Might be a sneaky 40 WAR projectable team with major room to grow with Jazz/Sanchez/Luzardo/etc.

I see your overall point, but to me, Reynolds and Mullins are legitimate, high quality hitters. Especially Reynolds.

Orioles VP / Assistant GM was just on MLB Channel saying Mullins will be an Oriole for a long time.  If the O's trade him, it will probably be a deal like the Pirates want for Reynolds (lots of top prospects)

Not getting my hopes up for a tweet .... I'm giving the FO until Opening Day but I really am not expecting much before then

A vague Mish tweet won't really change anything right now for most people.

In that case, what options are left?

- Trade (a ton of prospects) for Reynolds

- Pay the $$$ for Castellanos

- Sign Conforto (after his bases loaded HBP last season, meh)

- Trade with A's for Laureano (serving a suspension)

- Trade for a major league ready CF prospect
