I get the joke but no one said hometown discount. Hometown is factual at this point.

And yes money is first, dollar amount has to be right, but some players do wish to play for certain teams. Wouldn't shock me if Castellanos is crossing his fingers that the Marlins give him the right offer.

Also still being in on Castellanos makes me think they're waiting on his decision and if he declines then they jump at Reynolds.

Maybe this is what's happening.

I wasn't expecting them to still be "in" on Castellanos. The fact that he hasn't signed yet I think works in our favor. I feel like most times where there is a long period of dead silence on an FA despite there being multiple suitors, something unexpected happens...

but thats stupid tbh.

Castellanos cant play CF, so not sure what the acquisition of a CF has to do with Castellanos signing.

Typical Marlins probably but still stupid.

the market is also drying up a bit for NIck as well as more guys sign.

Reality at this point....

the only way Castellanos signs with Miami is if there are no other offers to his liking out there.

I'm sure he knows what the Marlins have offered.  He and his representation (the best in the sport) arent happy with that offer.  So they are seeing if they can get an offer they feel is representative of his skill set and what they feel he is worth.

i.e. Marlins want him for a price that is deemed to be lower than his perceived market value.

Pretty obvious.

I would like to know what Philly offered him. If that’s our only competition, he may not get close to what he’s seeking. They have been hesitant to go over the tax and he would put them over it I believe.

We are shopping the clearance racks at Marshalls?

USA Flea Market budget level is for the Marlins

This is either really good or really bad and lately I have been getting the bad vibes so I am not optimistic.

If it is Castellanos, I'm worried about his home /away splits.  The last thing we need is another albatross of a contract on the books without much production in return. That could cripple the rebuild. I'd like to hear @MarlinsLou thoughts on that.

Considering Mish has been assuring us that something big is coming my guess is that the "We need to talk" means it's not happening.
