Mish is super adamant that that isn't the case. It would be awesome if Sherman gets Castellanos to sign after the lockout and that would make such a strong statement.

What’s the status on universal DH? Cause really the only way I think Castellanos is a good acquisition would be as a DH. Dudes a disaster in the field.

Universal DH has, I believe, been agreed upon.

Honestly rather not spend on Castellanos and just give Cooper that spot. lol

EDIT - Mish's podcast, "they're not going to give Castellanos $200M, come on." OK that's that. lol

EDIT 2 - I'm going to listen to the podcast more than once and gather as much info as I can out of it.

Jeter was the one who more or less signed Avisail Garcia, not Kim Ng.

would 100000% would have rather spent for Correa's salary than Avi + Castellanos salaries combined.  I still think that Avisail salary is literally like throwing money away as I just don't see him being a good fit on this team at all.

the problem really started with Mike Hill toward the end, though I assume driven largely by Denbo, who was looking to acquire bats that had high power potential and literally igorning all the other aspects of a hitter, which got you the likes of Isan, Monte and Brinson.

There is a reason the Yankees didnt really fight 'too hard' to keep ole Gary to start with.

The Marlins have gotten somewhat lucky on pitchers, but a lot of that is due to trends in the majors toward favoring guys with big giant arms.

Remember Meyer was suppoed to be 'on the cusp' of the majors when he was drafted and yet here we are what?  2 years later and he is no closer to the majors now than he was then.

Hopefully the last couple of drafts start to pay off, the next 1-2 years is when you 'should' start seeing some fruits of those drafts matriculating into the majors, so we will see.

That gets back to the whole debate as to how much power/autonomy Hill ever had - both under Loria and Jeter.

I agree - seemed like a signing just to say we signed someone.

Though, there's also the "sprinkle the money around to a few guys rather than one" in case that one gets hurt argument.

If she has final say, she will proably shit can ass fire the idiot by the end of 2022.

First person she'll need to fire, honestly, is in the dugout.

I've said since the Marlins hired Don that he was a bad manager.

So yes?

Then we are good on this front. Fire Gary and Don.
