It's not ultra inspiring but I don't think that particular group will be the reason they do or don't make the playoffs. I think it's much more on how healthy the SP stays and whether or not basically the entire lineup can have a career year all together

They might all make the opening day roster, at  worst one is getting sent out if they dont acquire anyone else.

With the 28 man roster, I believe there's a max of 14 pitchers.

So right now ...

Sandy, Pablo, Rogers, Elieser, Luzardo

Bender, Scott, Sulser, Bleier, Bass, Head are likely guarantees, so there's 11.

Remaining - Okert, Poteet, Castano, Armstrong, Dayton

Poteet probably stays, and wouldn't be shocked if Armstrong sticks around. Leaves Okert, Dayton, and Castano to basically be a third lefty for now.

No limit for pitchers in first month.

Leaves Okert, Castano, and Dayton to figure out two spots at most then.

Likely going to have Astudillo though.

That makes sense -- have you seen the prices for a 1-bedroom?!

This is actually a sore subject right now cause my apartment complex offered a lease renewal yesterday and uh ... well.

Renewal 1 (for 2020-2021): +$15/mo

Renewal 2 (for 2021-2022): +$15/mo

Renewal 3 (for 2022-2022): +$107/mo

Rather sudden and ridiculous. Lol.

I am going to make so much money this summer when I sell my old house.

That's actually pretty fortunate. I know people whose rents have gone up 500-1,000 this year.

Then I guess I should just shut the fuck up! 😄

I think Castano is Mattingly's favorite pitcher, so he probably gets a spot. Astudillo is quickly going to become his favorite hitter and we're going to see a guy who hit .236/.259/.375 start as the DH a lot of times.

Yeah, I've heard some horror stories. Rent control has its downsides, but it also protects against this kind of thing. It's so hard for families especially to move, dislocate their kids, etc. Unrelated to the topic of the thread, but yeah...

Astudillo will be contact pinch hitting only. Maybe gets a catcher start.

They are going to play a DH in LF 90% of the time so if the other DH is benched, you presume the LF-DH is at DH. You know where he should be.

Or maybe they move Aguilar right now for Kiermaier and solve everything.

Oh also, Astudillo has a career .258 BABIP. Give him .300..... and his slash turns into .310/.335/.450+ really fast. Now imagine that at .320 BABIP which is in the realm of not unreasonable.

Yes the BABIP sucks because the contact is crazy weak on tons of BS as he swings at everything so it should be lower, but I'm a HUGE fan of his as if everything clicks for him, he goes from a 0 to awesome really quickly spraying hits everywhere. A .320+ BABIP Astudillo is a star. Hey De La Cruz did .380 last year? Alfaro did it for years.

Please note I don't think this happens but this is good MiLB signing and we can dream.
