SongInTheAir
So it's become increasingly clear that Donald Arthur Mattingly will be managing the Miami Marlins until the end of the 2022 season and likely for a few more seasons beyond that. He is not getting fired, he is not on the hot seat, this front office somehow thinks he's doing a great job. Is it because they, too, are incompetent and think his moves are good? Is it because they are even less competent than Don and they are the ones sending down things like, "bench your best player" and "bring in your worst reliever because you're losing by one run" and Don is just a yes man that does what they say? Either way, asking for Don Mattingly to be fired has not worked. Let's use this thread not for discussion (take that to the other thread) but instead just as a list of "evidence" for why Don Mattingly should not be managing a Major League Baseball team. SongInTheAir
1. He finally "allows" his best player, Jazz Chisholm, to start against a left handed pitcher. He removes him from the leadoff spot, where his speed can cause real issues for opposing teams, and instead bats him 6th, a part of the lineup where speed is almost irrelevant. 2. Jon Berti

Erick
3. He is an “he’s our guy” type manager for closers. As in, Bender is our closer regardless of what happens because he’s getting saves. Hasn’t cost us much yet, but it probably will eventually. 4. The same thing he’s doing with Jazz, he does with Jesus Sanchez. 5. His shifts mostly work…for the other team. CyggyMarlin
6. Benching a player when he is starting to heat up at the plate or just had a great game offensively

Erick
Don brings in Bender with a bunch of lefties coming up despite having Okert in the bullpen. Because Bender is the closer and you can only have 1 guy in that role.

Except closer apparently
Iowa
Continuing to bat Soler 3rd is unbelieveable. Truly ridiculous
SongInTheAir
Submitted to evidence: just watch the 8th and 9th innings of the game on May 4th. worst player on the team pinch hits in a key situation worst player on the team stays as pinch hitter after opposing team brings in a new pitcher, despite a later move proving a better hitter was available worst pitcher in the bullpen comes in for the save, despite a better pitcher, who also matches up better with the batters due up, being available best hitter on the bench, who would have been ideal in the 8th inning, pinch runs at first base instead, a thoroughly meaningless move that did nothing except prove that he was available
