Tua.. (and general Dolphins updates now)

Featured Replies

They need to move on from him this offseason. I know the talent is there but concussions are so easy to get once you've even had one - and they get easier and easier to get after each one. Theres no way he'll be able to play meaningful amounts of games you need from your QB1

Problem is, who is the go-to next year? He's still on the rookie contract so he'll be relatively inexpensive compared to other QBs, might not be so bad to ride with him one more year.

Before this season started I told a few peeps that I'd be willing to bet Lamar is a Dolphin in 2023. Ross (unlike Bruce) sure as shit ain't afraid to spend (or meddle) to bring big names there. I totally get Tua is cheap next year but there's just no way he'll be reliable

Yeah, to this point, this is true. Still, if nobody of Lamar's caliber is coming here, I'd rather stick with him one more year and go from there.

Missing some first round picks anyways. Lol

Oh for sure. I don't see them trading what limited picks they have on a different QB.  I just think Ross will go hard after Lamar.  I really feel for Tua because we can all see the greatness there especially in this offense but...your qb1 simply can't miss 30% or more of the games each year.  This isn't like when Young was backing up Montana and the cap didn't exist. Thems just the breaks.

Welp. Probably gonna miss the playoffs now.

Need to win next weekend against the Jets at home and the Patriots to lose to the Bills. Not impossible, and also not likely.

Gotta love the implosion lol

and thus why i'm 1000000000% glad i refused to watch them this year despite the hype and the good early season results.  they always fuck it up...somehow...some way...they always get a key injury or get off to a real slow start or have an epic collapse.  they're fucking cursed.

They need to keep Tua off the field for a long time or his career (and life) could be in serious jeopardy. This Hamlin situation puts into perspective just how dangerous that sport is and you realize how quickly you’d trade your health over the sport itself. Tua should get out while he still can. Concussions are no joke!

Yep. He's a young dude and I think he may actually hang it up after this year.

I don't know if Tua retires after this year, probably too much of a competitor to want to do that - however, I certainly don't blame him if he does.

Really hoping that Hamlin pulls through on this. That was terrifying to watch live, I can't imagine how his teammates feel at the moment.

I dunno he seems really family and faith oriented so I think he just might step aside from playing and get involved with some concussion program at the NFL level for players. That totally strikes me as something he'd do versus turning his brain to mush.

I saw a report that said Tua wants to play if Miami makes the playoffs. I doubt he will retire even if he maybe should.

Edit, here is the report: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/01/tua-tagovailoa-hopes-to-return-for-playoffs-if-dolphins-make-it/

I'm sure he does but once the season is over the competitive drive probably dips a little bit and can allow him to take other things into consideration that seems less important now. Either way, Miami ain't going to the playoffs.

Non-Zero chance of playoffs but unlikely. And really doesn't matter right now cause it requires the Pats losing to the Bills this weekend and who knows what their situation will be ... I won't be surprised if they don't play that one either, depending.

scary ass situation last night in Cincinnati.

Nobody at fault at all, completely freak incident.  Kudos to all those first responders doing the amazing things they always end up doing in situations like this.

Kudos to the coaches and players for their actions immediately after.

You cant really fault the NFL or zebras for this and in the immediacy trying to get the game restarted, there is no book really on something like this happening (though there probably should be tbh).  It high school games the game has continued on when tragedy like this happens after a brief pause basically.

Glad that Hamlin is alive and hopefully he can make a full recovery.

Reminds me somewhat of Christian Erickson a few years back collapsing on the pitch during the UEFA league game for the Netherlands.  Gives you hope that this is something that he can make a full recovery from which is really the only thing that matters.  Hopefully we'll know more on this young man's health status later today.

Also Tua wont retire.  He will want to play because thats how you do it in the mentality of football.

Someone he trusts will have to sit him down and talk to him about these dangers and then maybe he will act, but maybe he wont.  Never really know.

Hope he can overcome those issues which just continues to speak to the difficulty of brain injuries especially with football.

OK so some great news with Hamlin - he has woken up, is gripping hands of family members, and is "neurologically intact" - fantastic information today.

Dolphins made the playoffs!

Its crazy to think that I’ve been a Dolphins fan as long as I have been a Marlins fan so like end of 2002 beginning of 2003ish.

And in all that time this is only the 3rd time the Dolphins have made the playoffs since 2003.

Actually coming into the beginning of year both the Marlins and Dolphins have only made the playoffs twice since 2003. Crazy to think about. Of course because of the Dolphins history and attendance they are still respected around the league and media much More than the Marlins. I guess because at least almost every year me they have had a team that at least had a chance to compete for the most part.

Anyways, with Tua out, I don’t really have super high hopes for the Dolphins next week against the Bills, but at least it’s a nice feeling to see one of your teams in the post season. Even if it just lasts one week. 😂

i may just put $5 down on Miami because the odds will be so wildly lopsided you may as well take that chance. Still likely better odds than blowing $5 on a scratch off.

Ain’t that the truth. I’ve wasted so much in my life on stupid scratch offs. 😂
