I get your point, but there are only a few teams that will be able (or willing) to pay Ohtani what he's likely to get. We are definitely not one of them. We didn't even sign players we needed for less than half of what Ohtani may get....we have less than 0% chance of signing him....hell, it's more likely he'd pay us NOT to play for us than us signing him......therefore people joke about it.
