I'm probably the biggest Sixto fan here, but expecting him to be healthy at this point is a pipe dream. You can never trade a pitcher with the expectation that Sixto may fill his shoes. Meyer has great stuff, but he's a prospect, and for what it's worth, I absolutely do not think he would have been ahead of Garrett on the depth chart even if he were healthy. Garrett started 17 games last season and was actually pretty good. It's not like he's some nobody, either. The dude was the seventh overall pick for a reason.

As for Rogers, I still like him, but he really hasn't been very good for a year-and-a-half now. I would rather Rogers takes Cabrera's spot than Braxton's. Let's also not forget that Eury will be shut down at some point, so Rogers can also slot in for him if Cabrera stays in the rotation.

Unless it's part of a package for a truly elite hitter, I don't think moving Garrett is the best idea at the moment.

Rumors surfaced that one of Rogers pitches last year was tipped based on his delivery.  If so there is some hope that he can return to form.  Also, this year, Rogers had two bad breaks in as many starts with multiple infield singles and maybe some errors(s). I’m not against trading Rogers over Garrett, however the problem is value based on performance & him being injured.   Trades work best at peaks, we all know that but sometimes it appears  worse when that peaking player is apart of the current roster that is succeeding, in this case it’s Garrett.   Here is why I would trade Garrett, value (high) future (we have depth) & upside (he’s a 4th-5th rotation arm).

Meyer & Sixto have upside over Garrett, although I do agree, Sixto is basically a pipe dream but you can’t trade him for low value and if he becomes an ace a couple years from now it would be haunting.

Cabrera hasn’t passed the eye test for me yet. His changeup velocity compared with his fastball isn’t marginally slower & his fastball isn’t overpowering hitters.  The walks are annoying but a strike out pitcher offsets that.  I’m not sold on Cabrera but he’s kinda been treated as our next Sandy.

Shutting down Eury is just bad luck & puts another element into this.  I still think an everyday proven bat will make up the difference.  The defense has been great & our bullpen as well which gives more wiggle room for a hitter over Garrett.

Garrett has a decent amount of trade value now + he wouldn’t even be considered in the starting rotation if Rogers, Max & Sixto were healthy coming into the season.   Can Garrett really keep on this current production long term anyway?  Trading your 5th starter+ prospects isn’t the worst position a team could be in.  Adding another PROVEN bat will make up the difference & more.

I agree though, they need urgency now rather than later.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but Sixto’s career is over. I reported on this before the season.

Anyways yes Eric believes he and only he knows that Sixto's career is over because BMI says so.

I have a feeling Eric took a lot of backlash causing a serious case of BMI stress.

My BMI is at an all time high.

I'm technically obese, per BMI.

I'm also in the best shape of my life. Don't you love different body types?!

I’m incredibly disappointed in you. I doubt you could lose the weight even if you tried. You obviously lack the will power and drive. Just give up.

That really is the best way to do it, make the person prove you wrong even if in reality you don't give a shit. @EricOwens! should be a personal trainer.

It really is a win win. Either you keep the weight and I’m vindicated, or you lose the weight and I’m an expert motivator.

You guys are such bandwagoners. Marlins lose one game and this place is as deserted as a Thursday in December.😂
