April 10, 20233 yr I'm always torn on what to do with him. He's clearly an injury magnet however his bat has been one of the more consistent bats we've had in the last few years. If the DH was not a thing in the national League still that I would say not to extend him but since it is I think the season should be his make or break season to determine whether we extend him or not. He was doing pretty well last year and just tanked around the All-Star break. I think he has a very good season in him if he can just be consistent stay healthy.

He’s not gonna get you anything in a trade and it’s not a big investment. 33 years old, injury prone, below average power for a 1B/DH, below average defense. He’s not getting a big deal but he’s still an ok middle of the lineup option for the Marlins specifically.

He did that once, last year, and it wasn't really all that good. He's not seen "like trash" just more realistic that he'll be 33 next season and is always getting injured one way or another. I'm OK if they give him a very short term thing like a 1/5 + an option for a second year but not much beyond that. They need to be ready to move forward.
