I'm not sure they have to sweep the Brewers. I think they can afford to take two out of three here so long as they take care of business against the Mets and Pirates. Probably have to sweep at least one of the three remaining series, though.

It would help to have some of the other contenders slip up a bit too.

Yesterday on the Cubs broadcast Boog Sciambi was discussing the Marlins vs Cubs tie breaker situation and was saying that he doesn't think the tiebreaker should go to the Marlins.

His logic? Yes the Marlins won 4 of the 6 games from the Cubs, but never mind that minor detail, he says it should go by run differential in the series because the Marlins won each of their 4 wins by just 1 run while the Cubs won by 2 or 3 in their two wins. So basically the Cubs scored 23 runs in the series and the Marlins scored 22 and he thinks THAT should be the tiebreaker. 

What an idiot. I'm going to assume he's just pandering to the Cubs fans but that shit is just ignorance. 

Padres getting to play games against the 'Cardinals' with pretty much every quality everyday player on the shelf is a help to them.
