Eh, they could've been trying hard and just couldn't get it done. I won't get on him for things out of his control.

My issue is that he said fans would like the trade didn't he? I doubt there would have been much celebration of the trade from Marlins fans.

Yeah Mish only said he heard of a trade being worked on but he didn't say it was happening for sure and he didn't give trade details. 

With that said I would have hated trading Luzardo for Joey Ortiz. I'd rather take my chances with Brujan and Berti. Will now be interesting to see if Bendix actually pivots to another SS plan or nothing at all.

If Joey Ortiz was their plan A, I'd be so scared of what plan B is... which makes me think they're not gonna bother getting a SS at all right now.

He is a FA after this coming season which is why he's available. Not the kind of guy that a cheap franchise would acquire.

It's exactly the type of guy they should be acquiring if they want to try and win this year. It'll be a rental but it would improve us this year and give us a chance. Somewhere I saw the Marlins projected for 81 wins, one more offensive addition could literally make a huge difference in playoffs or not.

I get that he's been wrong in the past.....but they very well could have been working on something like this (with say the Orioles) and they just decided to go with the Brewers instead.

 

Just because this trade happened and the Marlins trade didn't happen doesn't automatically mean he was 100% wrong, or that he had "no factual base of information."
