The Mariners might be the closest example I can think of - they make a ton of trades under Jerry Dipoto (2015-present).  They had a low attendance figure of 1.2M in 2021 (partial attendance year), but other than that, they've been between 1.79M to 2.69M fans every year - and over 2M in every year except the post-covid year and 2019 when they weren't good, but still had 1.79M attendance.

 

I've said it before, but I personally think the Miami market will/would be fine if we had a few years of consistent success and playoff appearances.  We see strong attendance from the other successful franchises our same market.  (Baseball) Fans here have just had absolutely no reason to come out for 20 years now.

And please don't bring up WS or nothing arguments - that's not the point here.  How have those 20 consecutive Cardinals WS appearances gone?  Oh wait....    (yes, Mo is a Mo-ron, that's why they haven't gotten there, blah blah blah).

Considering it was well out there that the Marlins would consider trading Luzardo, it wouldn't shock me if literally all 29 other teams called just to see what the asking price was like. 

I can't imagine how many times teams touch base on trade possibilities that never actually get reported. 

It wouldn't be inconceivable to believe that every GM/POBO talks to every other other GM/POBO at least one time in each offseason.

I am so confused with them ditching the throwbacks (and teal), while then having it as the BP hat.

Though it appears, "throwback" is the MLB theme for 2024 BP hats.

I don’t know if it still works like this as it’s been a few years since I went to a game at the park. But from what I remember, doesn’t the visiting team have batting practice last in the day.. like around the time the gates are opening up and the fans are coming to their seats.. so probably most people going to the game won’t even see the Marlins wearing these cool throwback hats for BP.

Seems like they really don’t want the teal colors to be part of the regular season at all. Keeping it for BP during the year.

So Nike implements a rule to simply jersey and cap numbers and production which in turn should create more unified and cohesive uniform sets but then they allow BP caps that completely veer off the path that the uniform rules were now creating?

That's barely even a throwback cap. It's a modern logo combined with retro elements. A throwback would be something they've worn in the past, this is not that.

dunno man...if anyone here has ever been an assistant to someone I'm willing to bet this Marlins offseason has been absolutely riveting

It’s funny how the truly great franchises in MLB history have stayed consistent over many years with uniform color choices and logos I.E. Dodger Blue, Cardinals Red, Yankee Pinstripes, Chicago Cubs Blue, White Sox- Black and White.. Heck even the Rockies have basically kept the same logo their entire history just with some slight tint adjustments.

But of course the Marlins have to be changing their colors and logos every 5 years now. Yeah yeah, I know change of name from Florida Marlins to Miami Marlins but still.. could have kept the teal.. and I’m talking like back in 2001 when they were still the Florida Marlins and they started phasing out the teal back then. 😔
