January 16, 20242 yr Hey guys, who is your second favorite team or team that you would root for if you ever stopped being a Marlins fan? (Not saying that will happen. I mean all of us are still here after all these years. So most likely we will all be Marlins fans for life. But I’m just talking hypothetically.) For me it’s always been the Dodgers, for around 20 years or so(not because of recent Shohei signing, I’m talking starting back in their Shawn Green era). Just been a fan of their uniform/color scheme for many years. Also the fact that they always seem to have a strong lineup/roster/rotation has always made them a fun team to watch. What about everyone else? Edited January 16, 20242 yr by SirFishFan
January 16, 20242 yr i've tried so many times over the years to change teams in a few sports but i just can't. i will stop following baseball altogether before i'd become a "fan" of another team. I dont understand how people do it. i just can't bring myself to care about another team. I rarely watch playoffs in any of the sports out there if my team is out of it either. i just get bored if it's not my team.

January 16, 20242 yr Always wanted the Rockies to succeed so I always keep an eye on them, if they ever got better I could definitely watch them more... I've loved the Blue Jays since watching the 93 World Series... I enjoy rooting for the Rays after watching many bad but fun Devil Rays teams on the Sunshine Network... and I was born in the Bronx to a family of Yankee fans... So basically, yes, I am a whore. ...with that said, as mentioned by others above, I could never fully commit to another team the way I do the Marlins. It would just be unnatural to me at this point.

It would just be unnatural to me at this point. Yeah I get that and I agree on that point. The way I look at it.. it’s not so much that I actively follow/support the Dodgers. It’s more like well, from a far distance once the Marlins get eliminated from playoff contention every year and if it’s like the Braves or Phillies vs the Dodgers in the NLCS, I will be quietly rooting for the Dodgers everytime over another team. But I won’t like actively follow them or even pay too much attention. I barely have time for Marlins games. But well, if Dodgers are in WS, I would be happier if they won instead of whichever AL team. 😂 Edited January 16, 20242 yr by SirFishFan
January 17, 20242 yr If you forced me to pick one, I guess it'd be the Rays since they're next closest. But, I'll echo those above in saying I'd just stop watching baseball altogether than start following another team.
January 23, 20242 yr Always been in the odd situation where the Atlanta Braves are my second team. I grew up with Chipper and Andreu Jones, Smolts, Maddox, et all, and lived in Georgia after Florida. It was the second stadium I ever visited and team I got to watch live. Never had the hatred for them that a lot of other Marlins fans I know do (I've always reserved that for the Mets and slightly lesser so the Phillies). Not an Acuna fan though.

I think they've just become our default rival (aside from the Mets).....plus Acuna has made it easy to be against them..
April 2, 20242 yr Author I’m going Yankees this year. Just because of Jon Berti. He’s one of the good guys in the game. Puts his head down, works hard wherever they put him. Would like to see him win at least one WS in his career. Marlins definitely not going to WS.. Don’t give a shit about any other team this year. If the Yanks make the WS I’m rooting for them.

Jon Berti was on a playoff team for the Miami Marlins last year. Miami Marlins dump Jon Berti and suddenly they have not won a game since September 2023. Yankees however have not lost a game in 2024. Coincidence?

Berti was worth 2.1 WAR last year and 2.2 the year before. He’s a good player and the type of player good teams have on the roster, not Vidal brujan

April 4, 20242 yr None. Baseball is in a super sad state of affairs. Half the teams have no chance of competing when the season begins. A lot of the owners are frauds and don't care about winning. I'm sure its great if you're a fan of those other teams who take it seriously, but until something changes, I'm not interested in supporting much at all.
April 4, 20242 yr I also don't need to add any more disappointment into my life. I'm slowly stepping away from sports in general as I generally find many of the rule changes across all major sports over the last decade plus to be making the sports worse to watch. I hope I can follow in my father's footsteps some day soon and not give a shit about any sports.
April 8, 20242 yr *Looks around, sheepishly mutters* "The Mets, The A's and The Yankees with Dongcarlo" 😭
