Also the DSL Rockies who will play somewhere around 55 games this year, are on pace to win more games than the actual Rockies...

It will be close, but if the Rockies play at the level they have done since after their sweep in Miami, they will avoid this fate as well as finish just better than the 2024 White Sox.

4.21 in 2023 which is what I'd use as a more fair comparison.

Moskos and co are doing fine, though.

New arm slot if Edward has worked wonders.

I think it’s too early to tell, but I have confidence in the driveline guys

My honest belief is that pitching coaches work well with certain types of pitchers. The guys we had early in Mel's tenure were perfect for him. He was able to get the most out of them, so it made Mel look like a genious. But it did not mean that he could work his magic on everyone. Maybe if Mel was still here, Sandy would be pitching like he did in the past. But at the same time, Lake Bachar and Henriquez would be awful.

yeah, he really worked some sort of wonders with certain pitchers (including Weathers) but man, whatever he was trying with Cabrera clearly was NOT working amongst a few other guys - you have to wonder if he was just stubborn and if it didn't work out like he wanted to then he just didn't pivot to trying another method to coaching guys and maybe our current coaches are a bit more flexible? Not sure. We'll never know! Mel was a great pitching coach overall though. Some people just don't work well together no matter what. For what it's worth I don't recall anyone really saying anything bad about working with him either so I guess the staff just needed a fresh set of eyes as is often the case across all sports leagues.

Or "WIN NOW" mode in 2026 ?

That won't exist.

So not trying to compete in the 2026 and then have no the 2027 season, that's great.

The only area we'll compete in is the race for lowest payroll.

He did a great job with this team. Even some of his no-name offseason additions (Junk, Hicks, etc.) ended up panning out pretty well.

Now if only Bruce gives him some sort of a budget to work with this winter. It doesn't even have to be anything crazy. Just do SOMETHING.

I'm sure a good part of the plan will involve how much we trust particular players at the upper minor league levels.

Joe Mack should 100% be on the opening day roster in 2026, for defense alone at minimum. Gus DH and catch twice a week at most. I'm not entirely sure about keeping Hicks around but also not opposed to it.

First base - let's see what we can figure out there. We can maybe start off with Johnston there? Hard to say really.

Second/Short - just stick with X and Otto for now, but X gotta give up switch-hitting. Just bat lefty, dude.

Third - Norbs/Pauley/Sanoja, I guess? Not sure if there's anyone worth getting in the FA market.

Outfield - give me Stowers, Marsee, Conine to start off with Heriberto on the bench. We'll have a good problem there to begin next year.

Rotation - let's see who gets traded. Thomas White gotta come up though. [lol Frisaro thought we should trade him for Geno, what a maroon] Snelling too.

Bullpen - if anyone offers anything of value for some of these guys, get it. Keep Ronny and Phillips unless a great offer comes in.

People talk about the grievances of Marlins' low payroll from the players' union in the last off-season and nothing happened until now.

Nothing ever happens with the grievances.

Useless players' union, I believe all Marlins fans want somebody to punish Sherman.

I don't know if everyone here is watching the playoffs, but the Phillies just got eliminated last night. They made 3 errors including on the final play of the game that ended their season. Most people remember the brutal defense from the Yankees in game 5 of the World Series last year. And I got to thinking about how undervalued defense really is. Think about it. Whenever there is discussion about an MVP award, people only show the players' offensive stats. Defense is not even a consideration for anything unless you are talking about Gold Gloves.

Anyway, what I wanted to say is that while offense can win ballgames, defense 100% loses ballgames. It should not come as a shock when teams with poor defensive fundementals like the Yankees come up short despite their offensive firepower.

Jazz made some brutal errors, the one where he caught the relay from the outfield and didn't turn around in time to see the runner heading home was just as bad as the error on the hard grounder. Lack of awareness in crucial situation.

Last night, pretty bad, JT telling the pitcher where to go and a brain freeze as panic set in. Always glad to see the Phillies lose. Good night last night for Philly sports, Phillies, Eagles and Flyers.
