Conflicted on Dane though. Cannot see anything obvious to explain the drop in production. No major change in the pitch types he is facing or in his discipline stats. Have not seen any zone data, so maybe they are attacking with the same pitches, but in different spots. If he can start hitting better, he's a difference maker because of the speed and defense. But it's a big if.

His BABIP isn't in the 400s anymore. He's a pretty nothing hitter when he isn't one of the luckiest hitters in baseball.

He’s got elite defense and very above average speed which will keep him in the bigs and give him a lot of value. He’ll need to hit .300 though to really be an impact hitter

Yeah the Marlins can definitely get something for him. He's 29 and really doesn't have a place here long term, so I 100 percent think he should be dealt.

lol they're not going to buy

they might "buy for the nearer term future", (i.e. next year or two) but not this year

Front office might genuinely be in the mindset of, "let's see what happens these next few days."

If we have a 4-2 or better road trip which would get us to three under .500, front office might say "alright, let's give it a go."

Again it could even be a half-buy and half-sell.

As it stands, Joe wants to trade Thomas White for Eugenio Suarez. He's not worth paying any attention to.

Frisaro is the absolute worst. Remember when he was a Loria shill and blocked everyone on Twitter.

I agree with lil b that this is the path - see what happens in Milwaukee and take from there. Their chances to even sniff a game or 2 out of the WC are quite slim.

Yup, I could see half buy, half sell, with it being buying controllable parts that'll help next year+, and if it helps this year too, great, but this year isn't the focus.

I think this is the most likely scenario. I think pieces like Quantrill, Sanchez, Myers and Bender could get moved while the Marlins also make a couple of shrewd additions here and there. But they're definitely not going for it this year. It could just be a thing of, "Hey, this team actually might be pretty decent, so let's start building toward 2026." That's at least what I'm hoping for anyway, and I honestly don't see why Sherman wouldn't allow Bendix to pick up some club-controllable assets. It's salary he's worried about; not additions.

I'm fine with that. I entered this season expecting 90 losses. Right now with current win percentage we're aimed at about 85. That fluctuates a bit of course but I'll absolutely take a 10-15 game improvement year-over-year.

As of now the team is 12 games ahead of last year's at this point in the season. Going by number of games, not exact date, just to be clear. Lol

Team has been playing almost 100-win ball since being swept by the Rockies, though, (25-16) and that's remarkable.

Following the loss to Philly on June 20th, team is 19-9 which is closer to 110-win ball. Bonkers! And exactly why this won't be a full sell-off.

That's a relief. Love this place.

Yep I tried to copy the link into an iMessage where it'd normally embed and it didn't embed there either.

Padres get: LF Jarren Duran from Red Sox
Marlins get: C Ethan Salas from Padres, RHP Luis Perales from Red Sox
