Opening up an OF spot was a positive point to moving Jesus because there’s plenty of competition that qualified

Fair!

See, I think if the timeline was actually 2028 like Polly thinks, he'd have gotten a lot more younger prospects in the trades. He got a lot of guys who were close to ready, such as Marsee, Pauley, Mazur, Snelling (those last three in one trade lol), Agustin, Stowers, Norby ...

Also got some other guys like Deyvison who are still a work in progress but in due time ...

Right now the Jake Burger trade in the offseason is looking like a wash.

Okay. This is the dream deadline for the Marlins:

Marlins trade Eddy, Bender, Fortes and maybe a mid range prospect to the Cubs for Owen Caissie AND Jaxson Wiggins.

In separate deals trade Jesus Sanchez, Cal Quantrill, and maybe another reliever for guys in the low minors with around a 3 year development track.

Promote Robby Snelling, Caissie, Marsee, and Mack. Insert all into the starting lineup. Demote Jack Winnkler. Bench Dane and Wagaman (your days are numbered). Start Heriberto at 1B (he has some playing time there as a pro). Promote Mazur and a couple of other guys for the bullpen. May get tricky with 40 man roster decisions unless they get bold and DFA some guys like George Soriano.

Post Deadline team:

Starting Position players

C- Joe Mack
1B- Heriberto (just about all games vs lefty starters, some vs righties) and Hicks (most of the games vs righty starters- he will also get spot starts at C)
2B- X
3B- Pauly (mostly vs righties) and Sanoja (mostly vs lefties- will also get spot starts all over the diamond)
SS- Otto
LF- Stowers
CF- Marsee, sometimes Dane
RF- Caissie
DH- Gus, spot starts form others to keep them fresher

Starting Rotation:

Eury
Sandy
Junk
Snelling
Either Mazur or Bellozo until Weathers is healthy

We either rob a farm system blind or Sandy stays. Win win!

Terrible idea. Far too much for just prospects. Idc how good they are.

Eddy and Bender for those two, fine. Fortes separate deal to bring up Mack.

uhhhh lol idk what they see in that guy.

He owns a lifetime .365 OBP in the minors and stole 45 bases two years ago. When you can get that for Fortes, you take it and don't look back. This was a GREAT return.

Maybe it is a bit of an overpay, but I do like Caissie and Wiggins. But the team should hold out for full value and keep Eddy if the other team does not budge.

Similar profile as Marsee who most people thought was a bust until this year. I have always been a Marsee truther.

No one is happier that the Marlins have lost two in a row right before the deadline than Bruce.

We have a legit chance to compete next year and trading Cabrera, Bender, and Sanchez still nets you a load of prospects to extend your window. It’s just about being balanced. Ending this year on a high note is also just generally good and will get fans excited for next season. Sell pieces that make sense, but don’t just totally shit on the team.

That's why I've advocated a sell around the edges approach, and "buy" for the near term future in what you get back.

The only reason Bendix wants to trade Luzardo, Sandy and Cabrera is because Sherman told him he's a cheap ass.

Luzardo currently sports a 4.58 ERA and 1.43 WHIP.

His expected numbers are, at best, league average.

Walk rate since June 1st is almost 11%.

Batters are hitting .276/.354/.425 in that span against him, or basically facing the Rangers' Josh H. Smith every time, who has done fairly well this year.

Luzardo being gone is not a problem.

Hope we remain firm on Cabrera. With three years of team control after this year, it needs to be a god damn haul. If not, keep him around.
