August 4Aug 4 If Ramirez is up, he needs to be playing every single day. Find out once and for all whether he's worthy of keeping around as DH/1B/Backup C.

It feels like they just keep trying to acquire quantity over quality. Guys in A ball are never going to excite me much either as that's not a good comp for MLB. the difference between AA and AAA is more negligible and there's a healthy number of prospects that go from AA to MLB instead of stopping in AAA first so those are slightly better comps. Still, once again, the Marlins are a team in need of quality above replacement level MLBers and once again, an owner who will do shit all to sign those via FA when the time comes.3 years ago "trust the process!"today "trust the process!"3 years from now "trust the process!"6 years from now "damn, guys got too expensive, time to retool. trust the process!"Barry Jackson the other day specifically said in a tweet that I posted earlier in the thread that their approach is to get "not just quality, but quantity in return".......so they're not going for the highest quality...Since it cut it off:There are a couple of core philosophies with this Marlins regime that are reflected in this Hicks trade:1) Be open to trading established players who don't project to play a premium position here (DH) who they believe might have reached their ceiling2) Acquire not just quality, but quantity, in return.
August 5Aug 5 Author Bendix' interview yesterday on their trade deadline goals:"To add as much talent to the organization as we possibly could, while also understanding, recognizing, and appreciating, we have a good team, we want to make sure we give this team as much of a chance as we can at the same time."Ok buddy.....So I guess "giving them a chance" means not getting anyone to help them lol.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing. Punting 2026.
August 5Aug 5 Author I mean, we all know that GMs give the word salad answers to say a lot without saying anything, but don't pretend that the fanbase are a bunch of idiots that can't see you aren't even trying to compete this year, despite the team's performance.
August 5Aug 5 I agree 1000% with the sentiment of the blue chip prospect. It’s been infuriating for quite a few years. But there is a LOT of Bendix RAGE in this thread. 2nd lowest payroll in the NL and in the hardest division in MLB and we are in playoff contention. Is it luck?Of course it isn’t. Is it Bruce?Of COURSE it isn’t Is it Clayton?NopeIt’s the players performance, Bendix and the people Bendix has put in position for the Marlins to excel

That's all I care about as of this moment. You tried to silence us before 6:01 pm and you still don't want us criticizing your hero (for some reason) Bendix. Too bad.

Stockholm Syndrome is a real thing in Marlins-land.
August 5Aug 5 I think the point not how would this team win 58 game before the deadline but why they're not trying to improve a 58 win team. What's the reason to get rid of a hitter with the most RBIs ? because he's a rule 5 pick and meant to be regress on matter what and you need to cash in when he has the value ? that's bullshit, I have no idea he would regress or not in the next season but I make sure he would continue to produce RBIs in the remaining of this season.

August 5Aug 5 No matter how good Peter Bendix is, the Marlins can only win in the regular season and not the postseason. When has a low-payroll, young team ever won the World Series ?

It is to endlessly re-stock the farm system and reset the clock. The goal is sustainable long-term success in the mold of the Rays. The only difference in the Rays and the Marlins is Junior Caminero. Outside of him, their team has one, maybe two guys, that would crack our lineup. The approach is to get as many possible prospects and hope one of them turns into a superstar like Caminero. If that ever happens, the Marlins will make the leap. They acquired Caminero for Tobias Myers after one season of rookie ball. For every success in a trade like that there will be hundreds of failures. Their lights out closer was acquired via trade for a supplemental draft pick. They have the best record in the American League. That is the exact model we are trying to replicate.

I truly think Bendix is trying to build an annual winner like my esteemed colleague @TheMarlinsProject proclaims. I think that is the ultimate goal and plan of Bendix. My frustrations are the lack of any urgency to win now which as a lifelong marlins fan since 1993 makes it frustrating to see guys like morel paddack and slater in the lineup. It’s ultimately a testament to Bendix success that they’re even in the playoff discussion but I just wish the timeline was sooner.2028 does look very bright at this point u must say

If they dont hit all at the same time keep trading players before they cost money for more fliers. This sounds like throw shit at the wall and pray something sticks.Edit: also the hundreds of failures thing sounds like an idea to excuse the fact prospects we did get back arent progressing well that were in our top 30 after trades (Caba, Head, Augustin, Mazur,, Serna, Pauley, Acosta) Snelling, Marsee and Stowers might be the only ones turning out for all the established players we traded away who could have helped us win now. Too bad.I also like how it's a "good team" but yet again, we add nothing to push us to being consistently good or great. How many years and how many owners has it been now where we're seemingly a couple players away from turning the good streaks into consistency and our shitty owners - Bruce by FAR being the cheapest - just absolutely refusing to acquire anything and just continually pushing the "let's wait and hope our prospects all magically hit at once - just give it x more years!" and then guys get older and the team is still either shitty, a fringy playoff team, or too old/expensive and it's right back to "well, time to rebuild!"Bendix literally saying he knows this is a good team and doing NOTHING to help it at the deadline is literally admitting they don't care if this team is ever playing meaningful baseball in October and beyond.
