March 9, 200422 yr Just a little whisper from the Palm Beach Post, but in our unending quest to beat this topic to death, here you go: Stadium optimism: One week from a team-imposed deadline, Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said he remained optimistic he would secure money for a ballpark by March 15. "We're working on it. There are meetings and sessions going on, and that's all I want to say,'' he said. :cool
March 9, 200422 yr I hope we can get one, and I hope that dumbass Orange Bowl area idea doesn't happen. Also, if they change the team name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins, I'll be pissed!
March 9, 200422 yr Something must be very hush hush because no one is talking about anything. Maybe because of the city elections coming up, there are deals being made behind closed doors.... Smells like the Heat-Dade talks in the mid 90's.
March 9, 200422 yr Also, if they change the team name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins, I'll be pissed! Yea, Miami Marlins doesn't have the same ring as Florida Marlins
March 9, 200422 yr Also, if they change the team name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins, I'll be pissed! Yea, Miami Marlins doesn't have the same ring as Florida Marlins as long as we get a stadium, i dont care if they were called the miami salties
March 9, 200422 yr as long as we get a stadium, i dont care if they were called the miami salties Lets Go Salties!
March 9, 200422 yr Miami nor the Marlins are known for holding discussions like this and letting everyone know (Well minus Joe Arriola, he would have a press conference about his pets if he wanted to)... :shifty
March 10, 200422 yr I hope we can get one, and I hope that dumbass Orange Bowl area idea doesn't happen. Also, if they change the team name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins, I'll be pissed! Better Miami Marlins then Washington Senators.

March 10, 200422 yr Lets Go Salties! That sounds so wrong!!! :lol Hopefully that the Fish can get all the money they need, build a stadium with a retractable roof and we can all FINALLY move on from the last 11 years of stadium talk! I don't even want to hear the term 'Stadium Financing' for the next 30+ years!!

Also, if they change the team name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins, I'll be pissed! Better Miami Marlins then Washington Senators. I think we'll leave the Expos to turn into the Senators. That, or perhaps they can become the Puerto Rico Pigs. It has a nice ring to it.
March 10, 200422 yr Right now the County's priority has become satisfying Miami Beach's claim, at least partially, first, then offering the remainder to the Marlins. The roof, which seemed a done deal a week ago, may be in jeopardy again.
March 10, 200422 yr Now would be a good time for the state to step in and possibly help this team. Jeb always said that he wasn't going to help a team that drew so little in attendance and you know that attendance is going to be up big time this year. COME ON, JEB!! :censored
March 10, 200422 yr Marlins2003, Where did you read about the county trying to settle the Miami Beach claim? Just curious. A resolution/compromise on that is much better than litigation and may remove the hammer of the deadline.
