Titans Sign Kerry Collins
I'm puzzled, Volek has done well when he's gotten a chance to play. For his career he's completed 60% of his passes and has a 2:1 TD:INT ratio.

Cabrera getting some MVP love
Should have gotten MVP consideration last year too, and probably would have been talked about more if the team hadn't gone in the tank. Plus he and Delgado split the Marlin votes. It'd be awesome if Cabs got MVP chants every time he batted.

Marlins Uniforms
I like the way our jerseys look now...the teal BP tops are very minor league (and I used to own one).

Do you think we have a chance?
2 back in the loss column, we've got as good a chance as anyone, and better pitching than most of the other WC contenders.

How much RAM is considered normal these days?
512 seems standard for laptops--at least it did for me when I got mine 8 or 9 months ago.

I saw Jorg hit a 3-run homer...
In the Durham-Louisville game yesterday evening, I get in and check the posted lineups, and who do I see batting 9th for the Bats but MB.com member Ryan Jorgensen? With Durham up 5-2, he then proceeds to crank a game-tying homer. I was really tempted to yell something about the site but uh, it would have been bizarre at a game in North Carolina involving the Rays' and Reds' AAA teams. By the way, outside of going 3-4 yesterday, he hasn't had a very good year...was hitting only .207 coming in.

SN Radio agrees with Marlins' strategy...
So on my way to the bar tonight I had the local sports radio on which happens to be a Sporting News affiliate and wouldn't you know, in the ten minutes I had it on, the guy says something like this: "What have we seen in all of these playoff races this season? It all comes down to pitching. You can win with pitching, no matter how bad your offense is. If I were a GM, I'd use every draft pick I had on pitchers, every trade I made would be for pitchers, and if I had 70 million in payroll to spend, I'd get $50 million worth of pitchers. Hitters are a dime a dozen." Just found that interesting, because I'd been one of those who was laughing at the way we went "all pitchers" last offseason but this team's certainly made me a believer...at least as far as next year and beyond goes, I don't know if we have enough this year.

Andruw Jones
First off should the marlins go get him.... and which marlins were put on waivers? I believe that Cabrera and Willis may have been put there, so that teams would stop asking about them. But I don't know. What are you talking about? To further show the Marlins had no interest in trading Willis -- or All-Star third baseman Miguel Cabrera -- the team reportedly put both players on waivers last Friday. By league rule, all players go through the waivers process during the year. Just because a player is placed on waivers doesn't mean he will leave his existing team. If another team puts a bid on a player on waivers, the original club has the right to pull them back off waivers. Putting Willis and Cabrera on waivers Friday is significant because players on waivers can't be traded. And the waiver time frame is 72 hours. Since the rest of the league sees the waiver list, they knew the two young Marlins' superstars were not on the market. link

2006 Wild Card Thread
This is pretty insane...but with the way the NL is and how well we've played I'll believe anything. Shock the world!

Who is your favorite Marlins fan/vendor?
sign man is awesome...and extremely dedicated...how bout the donut boys? They were great... Donut guys were awesome--I might have voted for them if they were on the poll. The Donut Meter was sweet. Though maybe it helps that I got donuts back to back nights in '04 (against the Reds).

Josh Beckett Couldn't Be Happier
I was just saying to one of my friends how odd it was that Beckett's home/road splits are so drastic when he is pitching in a major hitter's park--before tonight... Home (10 starts) 6-1, 3.22 ERA, .201 batting average against, 5 HR Road (12 starts) 7-4, 6.17 ERA, .267 batting average against, 23 HR Looks like he's trying to even it out tonight. :plain

I'm in so much pain
Funny story about when I got my wisdom teeth out...I am physically unable to swallow pills (choke on them) but when you get your wisdom teeth out you kinda need something for the next few days. So all of the Percosets I took were ground up into white powder and put in bags in the house so that I could mix it into my pudding or apple sauce--and yeah, that meant I had all of these bags of powder just sitting around the house...sketchiest looking thing ever.

Teams says Floyd Landis tested positive
HGH is not tested in baseball or football. The drug policies are all crap. WOW. :o I was not aware of that. If this is true, I would estimate that 50% of all MLB players and 70% of all NFL players use HGH. How is not tested in baseball when Grimes was just caught using it? As I understand, the only test for HGH is blood, it can't be tested through urine, and that's why it's not tested in any pro sports league. Grimsley never tested positive for HGH, he was cooperating with police on an investigation involving HGH use (implicating himself in agreeing to this). When he stopped cooperating with the cops is when they moved in on him and the thing became public.

Josh Johnson
I think Johnson is more like a Brad Penny than a legit ace... and there is certainly nothing wrong with Brad Penny I think Johnson pitches smarter than Penny already and I think he's already better than Penny has ever been. Tell that to the 2003 Yankees.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I can attest to the huge crowds--I went to see it Friday night and when I got there at 8, the only tickets left were for 11:00, a showing which got delayed for about 15 minutes because they had to open up more theatres to accomodate the crowd. Really good movie, though--I can't wait for the next one.

Mike Jacobs
Chun-Li was easily the hottest. *feels like a loser* Naw. There are a few games I can gurantee 97% US male under the age of 25 has played: Mike Tysons Punchout, RBI Baseball, and Street Fighter 2. Could probably add Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario(any game), Tekken, and Metal Gear Solid to that list too. So this isnt the first time the Cammy vs Chun Li debate has come up thats for sure. Tecmo Super Bowl? Don't know anyone who hasn't played that one.

Firefox owns all other web browsers
I use Netscape 8.1 which has support to view pages in both Firefox and IE formats (so whichever way it's optimized, you're fine) and you can put RSS feeds onto a toolbar. Pretty sweet. The one complaint I have is that it seems a little "bulky" or slow so I just looked at that Flock site and it sounds intriguing--I'll give it a test-drive today and see how I like it. Ah, I can't load my passwords in and I don't remember one of the important ones...d'oh!

2006 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes
By the way, I also love the announcer that NBC has for the Finals--he has a way of making the tone of his voice match the style of play going on. During power plays, at the end of the period, and when the puck is loose in front of the net, he sounds absolutely frantic.

2006 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes
Wouldn't it be nice to still have Ray Whitney on the Panthers? Huge goal makes it 2-1 Canes halfway through the first period.
